Greetings everyone, After much encouragement by some of the members of this forum I’ve come aboard in hopes of making some new friends, to share knowledge, and to enjoy the fellowship of others that regard pipe smoking as necessary as breathing. Living east of the Rocky Mountains I started smoking cigarettes when I was eight years old and started smoking a pipe around the age of 12. I bought my first pipe at age 15. It was a Dr. Grabow Viking. Back then anything with chrome would impress the girls. I smoked Middleton’s Cherry Blend because the girls liked it so much. However my tongue didn’t tolerate the scorching from each bowl that I smoked. Fortunately I soon learned that Aromatics offered little else. Blends like Half and Half, Sir Walter Raleigh. Edgeworth, and Carter Hall became my choices of tobacco. Today Ienjoy a lot of Straight Virginas, VaPers, Lat. blends, Lakeland’s, and of course Burley blends. I have a good selection of pipes and enough tobacco to last the rest of my life. I have the privilege of smoking anywhere I choose in my home and spend most days in my recliner enjoying both pipe and tobacco while reading the forums dedicated to pipe smoking. Due to some health issues I rarely venture outside my home. It it had been my intention to join this forum much earlier than today but my health issues often prevent me from participating. My reluctance to join this forum has been my inability to participate on a regular basis. Sometimes I may go a month or two without posting but I usually read the postings daily. Oh, I was also reluctant to join this forum because JimInks will now suffer because he knows I’m much better looking than he is. But it is what it is and Jim will now have to learn how to cope with a bruised ego. It it is my sincere wish that I can add something of value to this board and maybe learn from all of you. AJ

Welcome! I'm fairly new here, and relatively new to pipes. I've lurked on most other pipe forums, but decided to settle here. This place is my favorite, by far. It's very active, there's a wealth of knowledge, and very friendly helpful folks. Glad you decided to join.

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about JimInks, he drew his own Magic Mirror that tells him what he wants to hear.

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about JimInks , he drew his own Magic Mirror that tells him what he wants to hear. And the mirror said, "Don't put RonV in front of me. I'll crack up in pieces looking at the varmit sloth."

adding my welcome AJ from midway between Buffalo & Rochester, NY. If ya been around these various forums etc, could recognize me from original ASP, #pipes & a few others that don't exist anymore. Long time "lataholic", total 51 pipes, all smoke great for me.
Also, sorta proud of my seniority ( was 27.5yrs on the railroad where seniority was everything). If by chance ya can beat 12/40....I done lost it.
cheers & have fun here
Ed Duncan, 77, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62

Oh he knows a bunch of us for quite a while. I’m sure he will make some new friends. He truly is a wealth of knowledge 👍👍👍 ah. I'm still wet behind the ears. Cherish your time with being wet behind the ears. When you reach my age you’ll have to use a moisturizer to keep them from flaking and cracking. When I was still wet behind the ears I could shower, dry off, shave and be dressed in less than 15 minutes. Now with moving slowly, rubbing moisturizer all over my body, and needing to sit down to get dressed because taking a shower exhausted me, all that once took less than 15 minutes takes at least an hour now.
