Beautiful work, Lady Margaret. My wife does cross stitch and makes hand crafted covers for bibles. I have two and have watched her work (in awe). She also does beautiful work, like yours. thank you! I used to cross stitch constantly, but once i took up crochet my poor needles have been collecting dust. i still have a project on the frame. would love to see some of your wife's Bible covers.

Very nice work Lady M, that is beautiful gift!
When I was younger my grandmother taught me how to crochet, knit and sew. The ONLY time she ever raised her voice at me was when I changed the dials on her stitch counter. We used to sit up late at night and watch wrestling (my grandma loved it) and knit or crochet whenever I was there.
I was blessed to have 4 grandparents that all taught me how to do many things that I've been able to carry with me through life.

I was blessed to have 4 grandparents that all taught me how to do many things that I've been able to carry with me through life. thank you! my grandmother crocheted so she got me started in that direction. She taught me to make a chain and to single and double crochet, but I ad to figure out how to actually make something with those stitches years later when I really got interested -- that was when I inherited her house and was going through all her yarn and patterns. I ended up starting off with Tunisian crochet because I found an afghan hook my grandfather had made for her (he was a woodworker) Later I learned broomstick lace when I found a homemade pin for that. I assumed my grandfather made it, but my Mom told me our neighbor had made it for her. Our neighbor was kind of a father figure to my grandparents. He taught my grandfather carpentry and my grandmother crochet. As I was growing up he would let us pick his chestnuts and give me coffee flavored candies. I was so happy to know I now had something lasting from him as well. It's a wonderful heritage.

I know others have said it, but you deserve a lot of praise for a work of art like that. Amazing skills. I'm always impressed by what people can craft with their hands. I'm all thumbs, which makes me appreciate work like yours all that much more.

It is a good feeling to be able to accomplish a project like that, but an even better one when it brightens someone's life.
