Hey gang...
I'm Joe from sunny east coast of Florida. When I joined, I typed the user name Florida and it said, available. Never have a seen such an easy user name available so I kept it. In any event, I'm retired and have been smoking since I was 13. Started with Marlboro and then gravitated to an occasional cigar. From the 90's it was mostly cigars. I finally quit cigs in 2005 and haven't had one since. My first pipe experience was in the mid 80's but I could never get the hang of it and I persevered. Took some time to get the hang of it but by the 90's I was a chimney. I was only smoking Cuban cigars up until a year or so ago with an occasional pipe excursion until I finally retired and have more time to dedicate to a pipe. I'm anal so I could never work and smoke a pipe as I feel a pipe needs devoted time and dedication. I don't smoke indoors. I enjoy the relaxation and euphoria I get from smoking a pipe and now that I'm retired, I can fully enjoy it the way I want to. Ahhhhhhhh
So, what do I smoke? Basically everything. My cellar is insane and the sure sign of someone out-of-control. I have hundreds of jars and tins but can never figure out what to smoke; too many excellent choices. It's a chore each time I decide to light up.
My favorite pipes and ones I like the most to smoke out of are Meerschaums. The workmanship of some of the better carvers is absolutely fantastic. I do have some really nice Dunhills, Savinelli, Ratrray's, Petersons, Italians, Jewish, Polish  , etc. Too many pipes as well. Like I said, out-of-control.
It's a sickness but I'm sure I am not alone here.

Welcome from northern Floriduh. Retirement is a wonderful thing. Been retired for 4 years now and don't miss working at all.
Pipe smoking and retirement just go hand in hand...now you can really relax and enjoy all those hundreds of jars. Great to have a selection to pick from.

adding my greets/welcome from 50miles East of Buffalo, NY. Down to 51 pipes & 4lbs unopened baccy (at my age, don't want bigger stash.
Yrs ago wintered in Lauderdale till the golf shop re-opened in late April back North. Most of time spent as a caddy at RollingHills resort in Davie. One winter did hook up with long gone US Open champion Ed Furgol. We made some decent bucks on winter tour.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm originally from Brooklyn as well but moved out in '85 and never looked back. The only thing I miss is the food and water. There are so few pipe smokers nowadays so it's nice to meet up here. Look forward to it.
Hope to perhaps meet up with some central Florida smokers.
