We are taking a trip mid-august to Big Bear California. our halfway point from Northwest Arkansas is Albuquerque. I know the first exit in Albuquerque down the ramp make a right four blocks down right hand side Der Wienerschnitzel, I haven't had one of those nasty chili dogs in 29 years so that's my first stop. We will take in some sites and I plan on hitting a smoke shop. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I should go for cigars and pipe tobacco in Albuquerque New Mexico. Thank you in advance for any help.
Pete

I have been meaning to stop here: Monte's Cigars & Tobaccos
Next Spring maybe. Gets good reviews online. Looks like a nice shop with a comfortable lounge.

Just past Cedar Crest going towards Santa Fe, is a smoke shop that has some blends, but the real treat is Madrid, about 25 miles from I 40. This is a artist colony populated by nice weirdos and the site of the little town in Wild Hogs. The Polish Dogs are the best thing on the DW menu.

My wife likes the Polish dogs me I'm a purist I stick with the chili cheese dogs with onions. I hate to admit it but I also like Jack in the Box tacos. Funny you should mention Madrid and the very nice weirdos. I'm about as far right as you can get but I'm married to a hippie so we will be sure to go to Madrid. Thanks for the heads up. Pete

Pete The weirdos are very tolerant. And isolated. I doubt that they know who is the President. I too like Jack in the Box tacos, but they haven't changed in 50 years. Der Weinersnitzel on the other hand, isn't nearly as good as we remember. We eat at the one in San Marcos 2 or 3 times a year. Always dissatisfied, but it's a ritual.

Don Warren resides in Albuquerque, and I believe he welcomes visitors. His pipes are first rate, and his turquoise treatments will give you a southwestern treasure long after your trip has ended. I believe he attends pipe club meetings, so all the better if your timing is right. Google Don Warren pipes and you will get his Facebook, etsy, Pipedia, etc... pages. www.dwpipes.com
