As someone mentioned above, I only put a sauce on a steak that is otherwise inedible. I have used several over the years, and I guess Lea and Perrins was my previous favorite. I have used catsup on occasion when nothing else was available. My favorite these days is HP Sauce. It's kind of like a mix of catsup and barbecue sauce. It is even better on things other than steak, like a hamburger or venison patty.

I make my own.
lemon juice worcestershire sauce soy sauce brown sugar Knob Creek bourbon
I am not sure of the proportions, just add together and adjust till you like the taste. Once you like the taste add water if it is too thick.

I am not sure. I put the steak on the plate, and I put some of it also on the plate, to add to the flavor of the cooked steak. Which is that?
