Our teacher asked what my favorite animal was, and I said, "Fried chicken." She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, because everyone else laughed. My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened and he said my teacher probably loves animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again. The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, so I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal's office. He laughed, and told me not to do it again. I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn’t like it when I am. Today, my teacher asked me to tell her what famous military person I admired most. I told her, "Colonel Sanders." Guess where the hell I am now...

Made me laugh. I think I know that teacher. The kid's correct - fried chicken is pretty hard to beat ... and this is from a guy that loves exotic cuisine. In regard to the original question, my favorite animal is the dog (and don't you dare eat it). The old adage "Man's Best Friend" is spot on. My second favorite animal is the Clydesdale horse (don't eat it either).

How did you arrive at giving yourself the username you chose if you have no children? Cause he is a dad to his pipes, you silly rabbit! Pepe was a beloved male Chihuahua. He passed a couple years ago. But he is properly buried with gravestone and all in the yard he loved to play in. Sure miss his sister and other brother...a rescue when found about 3 hours from death according to the vet.

I understand how you feel, one of my favorite dogs was a chihuahua named Gideon, highly intelligent and afraid of nothing....I swear he was fearless of any size dog! I do miss him and I have pictures of him all throughout my server, PC and mobile devices. I was lucky enough to own 3 outstanding, brilliant, personable dogs in my life....from the 70’s to 2014...the tear I lost Gideon. Oh, I’ve had many in between but none were like those three👌👍👍. More memorable moments!

Dogs are wonderful people. They never lie, they don't swipe your credit card and run up a bill, they are always glad to see you no matter what you feel at that moment (pissed off, anger with relatives, etc).

Not gunna lie, reading that made my eyes glaze a little. I've had 4 dogs that were mine. 1 of them stands out and no other dog will ever come close to what he was. He was my first dog and the best of them all. RIP "Beamer" Still laughing about the "second shower."

In my case that would be my #1 dog “ Ringo “, you guessed correctly, named after the drummer Ringo Starr.......even though I could have paradiddle hand over hand better then he.....lol. Ringo was a special trained black Labrador with a heart of gold with children. But on my command you had no chance of evading! With my job and traveling Ringo was always by my side, knew his commands and always followed my lead. My companion, best friend and his loyalty too me was second to none. He’s buried in a special grave with full honors....Rest In Peace Ringo for one day we shall be together again. Second would be “ Toto “ a highly intelligent Cairn Terrier, also never needed to be leashed. This dog was trained to seek out tunnels, she was better then any human I was working with at the time....lol. Third would be “ Gideon “ a Chihuahua that loved people and always put bigger dogs in there place, he was more of a pet and a great one at that. From the time I was little I still remember all the dogs we had, both my Mom and Dad were dog lovers, guess it rubbed off 👍

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Peterd, thank you for posting the heart warming story. I believe I read this many years ago while attending Junior High. I Pray that it’s true, for I was lucky enough to have many animals/pets that were close to my heart, and one day I’m surrounded with happiness and joy once again.

I love dogs but they aren’t allowed off my property unless they are on a leash and I refuse to keep one fenced in or chained. It’s impossible to keep one in my house because I cannot take him out whenever it needs to go. Now I have a cat. A wonderful companion, named Snoops, that enjoys sleepy on his daddy’s lap. AJ
