Wondering if there is anyone who enjoys a bit of bass fishing while kayaking?
Just picked up a Sundolphin 10' fishing kayak. I find it is a challenge to get to and into the water. Then from the water to the shore it is also a challenge. Oh yea, having one leg and other disability adds to the fun.
Getting on the lake and paddling around is relaxing. Then being able to cast a line to find where they are and what they will bite are part of the day of enjoyment.
Well time to go Catch ya on the flip flop

Yup, I sure enjoyed Bass and even Trout fishing, now those days are over for me but I still have fond memories, and at times I go through my photo albums. Smoking a cigar or pipe while fly fishing was extremely peaceful and relaxing. Last year one of my closest friends Johnny “ Fish “ suddenly passed away, a fairly young man. His last name was not fish, it was a nickname he earned. If he wasn’t collecting rent money from the many properties he owned he was out fishing. For many years I went deep sea fishing on the “ Ebb Tide “ ( perfect name for a sea vessel ) a fishing boat that belonged to the brother of a woman I was dating at the time. The 40’ vessel was docked in Montauk Harbor, the S.E. end of Long Island. He chartered the boat for whale watching or tuna fishing and made a small fortune. On weekends it was only family and close friends that enjoyed his “baby “, he never married.....Smart man. We had some wonderful times together 👌👍
PS I never fished off a Kayak, for me that was just for rafting down a quiet stream.

Great video, so after all that the poor fisherman is not only out of luck with the one that got away....he needs a new rod as well. Wrong rod at the wrong time, go figure!

For years I fished off of Marsh Island, a wildlife preserve, and in front of it which was the Gulf of Mexico, Never saw the kayaks until the early 2000, moved away in 2002. I brought a 12 ft prouge in my 22ft open fisherman and slid it out in the island so I could fish Red Fish in skinny water. You should have becoup fun with that, enjoy

This guy has been dormant for a couple years: It's 10'. I used to float regularly on Elkhorn Creek, previously one of the best smallmouth fishing venues in the entire Southeast until an outfit called Canoe Kentucky destroyed it. Nothing but a regular navy of joy riders and tubers now. Nice bronzebacks are mostly gone and the remainder are too disturbed to reproduce on a regular basis now. A 14" fish is a good one these days. It's difficult to believe state and local officials allowed it to happen. Too bad.

Me and a kayak? I might as well forgo the boat and just jump in the water, end result would be the same.
Best of luck with the fishing!

I used to go deep sea fishing with my dad. Never fished from a kyack but I would think it sounds like a great time. Maybe some day I'll swing by and we can go fishing together, @johnr!

I like top-water bass fishing, but have done far too little of it in my life. I have been considering the purchase of either a dedicated fishing kayak or a small bass boat. Maybe next year.

I don't understand why kayaks exist. What is wrong with a good old canoe?

I don't understand why kayaks exist. What is wrong with a good old canoe? The Kayak is part of the canoe family. They were developed by Intuit people's. The sit in kayak offers protection for the user. For better info Google search the history of Kayaks.

I don't understand why kayaks exist. What is wrong with a good old canoe? I’ve done both kayaking and canoeing, it’s much easier to do a roll over in a kayak, so be safe and practice first in shallow waters. One should practice a roll over maneuver with a good swimmer or instructor near by. This way if there comes a day you do roll over you won’t panic and drown. I’d much rather fish in a canoe, just from my personal experience.

Fishing from a boat, canoe, kayak, or standing on the bank with a cane pole is just the best. AJ

I envision a comfy chair with a cooler near by for drinks. A small table for stuff like phone and pipe. A shade tree to keep the sun from getting to intense. Then fishing would be great! I could do it all smoke be intouch with the world and catch some fish. Unless the nap sneaks up on me while I am comfortable.

I had to make them flip the Grumman canoes and recover them. They didn't flip easy. I don't think they had kayaks in Texas at that time. Except for maybe some hippie weirdos.

I don't understand why kayaks exist. What is wrong with a good old canoe? In a word..WIND. Now I only do sit ons in saltwater but 5-10 knots no problem and even approaching small craft warning if I am heading to a sheltered spot. Not going to do that in a canoe. A good seat is a must and I just stand for a while to stretch back. Haven't got around to bass fishing but would consider bringing a sidearm in case I got to close to a gator nest.
