I can appreciate the craftmanship and artistry in this piece of wood sculpture but would you really smoke it? If so, where and when? This is just an example of some of the "Artison" pipes I've seen with some even more absurd ! Just curious ! If I could afford to buy it Yes. But like most of us here, I said most it's just something to admire for it's beauty.

It is fine craftsmanship but I wouldn't buy one. If I was given one I'm not even sure I'd smoke it.

If I ever drop $1,200 on a pipe you'd better believe I'm going to smoke it, as I would drive a car that cost $120,000. That said, once you get to making pop star or movie actor money, you simply may not have had the time to drive all 27 Ferraris at your five houses.

You can see some thought was given to the smokeability of that pipe, but were I in that market the weight (4.2 ounces) would put me off.

As a piece of sculpture it is wonderful. Would I smoke it? No. It looks unwieldy.

I think it’s beautiful but I wouldn’t buy it or smoke it.

Nice piece of wood sculpting but a bit heavy to enjoy smoking unless your sitting down. If I were a multi-millionaire I would still pass on this pipe.

I think it is a waste of perfectly good briar. I prefer pipes that have a traditional shape, and I think it is harder to make a good billiard or apple than a "freehand" where you are allowed to go with the flow of the grain. It's harder to color between the lines than not.

I would not smoke it. Too cumbersome. If one was bequeathed to me I would sell it and buy a couple of Blue Ribands and a birth year Dunhill Tan Shell.

I wouldn't buy it or smoke it. It's very pretty as an art piece but impractical for smoking.

It certainly offers the user a wide variety of gripping options.

I really think some of the Japanese creations of this sort jump the shark, and they do nothing for me.
But for someone out there, this would be their holy grail pipe I can imagine.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some great Japanese carvers that put out some pieces that I would love to have, these types just are not for me. A Danish freehand is about as far as I go from the traditional shapes....I also allow more latitude in that regard with some Meerschaums.... typically some of the older ones from Vienna and Germany.

I admire the craftsmanship, but I prefer my pipes to be simple and functional. I doubt I would smoke it if I owned it.

I would buy it, if I could....and of course I would smoke it....sitting down, pipe in one hand, other hand resting on one of my cats and mind completely blank after a long day at work. No clenching of this heavyweight

I don't find it attractive, either as a pipe or a sculpture. Yuck.

Thats beautiful. But like that nautilus pipe that is made out of an actual nautilus shell, I just couldn't bring myself to smoke it.

I appreciate the craftsmanship though I cannot afford the price. If it was to be purchased for a low low price,I would buy the pipe and might smoke it.

If I did buy it. I would smoke it. That would be the only reason to own a pipe.
If it was a good smoker I would smoke it in my rotation.
I hold my pipes so the weight would be less of an issue.
