Starting off my smoking day with Milan “Our Kentucky Club Mild” in the third pipe I ever bought ($1.95), a 1974 smooth straight French briar Hadley Apple with a black vulcanite stem. Ice tea and bergs is my drink. Suzy and Molly got a late start to the day, but they are making up for it by chasing each other around the house. Not sure who is chasing who, but they'll catch each other soon enough.

Retreated to my falcon's den in my "Our-gate" holiday villa, a lazy wet Sunday, enjoying a cup of tea and some of my "eventide" mix in the Butchers Boy (Rattrays), Holidays are very much a state of mind , to me my holidays are pilgrimages, spiritual adventures, I have never been a tourist holiday person. Going up the spiral mountain to commune with the doves, & escape the valley rats & pigs, & these days car-orcs.... But each to his own, wherever I turn I seem to have been out manoeuvred, out planned.in my little game of life...& death. Whether Peter or Paul in their prison cells, the outcome is inevitable. Jumping through hoops in the brick pyramid labyrinth or going around in circles in the Coliseum concrete jungle. If there was only myself I could find some peace, but as a Godfather & relative, it is hard for us all....

Puffing on the remains of my rolled aged burley flake in a briar , I enjoy the way a rolled flake burns & smokes more than rubbed at times. Feeding & watering the little animals in their little sanctuary, they seem to be all frolicking about in high spirits, I was thinking that all these intellectuals & academics & religious , with their books & scientific instruments should spend some time with God's creatures , it may put their words written & spoken in some context, before they they seek to control & dominate their fellow creature in their insatiable greed & pride & cruelty. Pop is sleeping he is breathing better now it is not so hot, this late night.

My my new meerschaum cigar holder with a cafe creme mini cigar, that was God's gift through the Royal Mail this dull morning, having Douwe Egberts instant coffee, I think I am to busy to grind and brew my favourite coffee.... Pipe smoking is a way of life, cigar smoking is living life.
