I recently purchased the last Nording Signature Naked Egg from P&C... had to sand down the tenon on the stem for proper fit.
Can't decide what tobacco to break it in with.
A Danish seems obvious. Penzance of course, but I have so many pipes dedicated to it already, it's stupid.
Suggestions? I like a lot of different styles of tobacco.

HU Zulu would work nicely however should you want to break it in with a good straight Va. I think you will appreciate the quality of McClellend Mature Va. # 25. I realize neither of these blends are of Danish origin but you and your pipe are in the USA.

Very nice pipe....congratulations 👌👍👍. Why was the pipe sent to you without a proper fit of the tenon??? Hope you got a good discount from P&C! +++++1 for the tobacco’s AJ gave you a choice of smoking. If your going to smoke a lot of Burley blends break the pipe in with good old reliable Carter Hall. Good luck👍

AJ's advice is perfect, and I have the tin of Solani VA flake that will do the job nicely...

I use Burley for all new break ins and start with half bowls. No worries switching to anything else afterwards. Enjoy the new pipe.

I'm a fan of using Carter Hall for breaking in new briars and newly refurbished ones.
That being said, I don't know if there is one tobacco that is the hands down winner of this category... (other than carter hall of course) ;-P

Congratulations. What a great-looking pipe.
Danish...? It might like a bowlful of HH Bold Kentucky. I know I would.

I have several Savinelli unfinished pipes, Lumberman and 320 KS series. I've been fortunate as mine have all been mechanically sound from the mail box. They've been real work horses in the regular rotation, really no way to hurt one, watching them color is fun and they're the best bang for buck when part of sales deal.
I could slide just fine with my unfinished Savs, a few MM cobs and my meers. I've really cut my briar collection back in the last couple years and that's the actual target as I continue to age. It would also be the mark if I could start from the start again as well.
