Oh--the last page (which I did not post here) was an order form. Pre-internet stuff.

Thanks for posting. Those days are long gone, hopefully pipe tobacco won’t triple in price in the near future!

I was there 20 years ago.I remember it because I ran into a good friend and fellow pipe smoker that I was surprised to see there.I bought a Ben Wade freehand and an Arturo Fuente that day.$60 for the pipe, and $8 for the cigar.Back then that was a lot to pay for a cigar. That might be the most I've ever paid for one.It was just something new that I wanted to try.

Just a quick comment on price increases. In 1971 when I started smoking pipes Lane bulk was 10 bucks a pound.About 1995 24 years later a five pound bag went up to $55.One dollar per pound increase in 24 years. In the past 23 years it has increased to the point that the cheapest I can find that 5 pound bag now is 136 dollars. That's just one example of probably hundreds. From stable prices to constant increases..I don't know how young guys with families to support can fit pipe smoking into their budgets

We are a dying breed !

Remember cigarette smokers go through $5-6 a day, and thats if they're still lucky, in one of the states with affordable cigarettes (and less tax...) I know this one is kind of on a whim, but if anyone here is looking for an excellent bulk tobacco on a budget, I really recommend Grand Croupier. Boneyard and Doubledown are both very fine blends. I have no clue how they sell them for so cheap (16 oz for like $15!).

I miss the days when McCranies were at all of the pipe shows. Their tables were filled head high with mostly their own tinned tobacco that guys would line up for. They always had a great selection of high grade pipes including Dunhill and Castello and they usually hosted Bill Taylor and or Tonino Jacono at the CPCC NASPC and CORPS shows. They even hosted a Charlotte show for a couple of years that I never attended. Unfortunately the pipes were Toms passion and the kids who had the combined personality of a tree stump let the pipes drop away. I detoured a family vacation to visit Tom and the shop and came home with a spectacular Jacono Queen EE Horn with almost perfect cross grain that I still have.
