That's a very interesting list! I would say about #8 that while I've never totally immersed a pipe in water. I do use a hot water rinse for the chamber and airway for deep cleaning a pipe. I resisted the idea for about a year and then decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. While I don't do this with every pipe that I own, I'm very happy with the results I get with those I do rinse in hot water.
20. Never use alcohol for cleaning an acrylic stem. The alcohol will react with the acrylic to cause micro fissures which can lead to the tenon eventually cracking. Clean with soap and water.

Never too old to gain useful knowledge. Thanks! AJ

I would add, regarding churchwardens, to make sure to hold the bowl now and again to see how hot it is getting.
I have a tendency to hold the churchwarden by the stem and without feedback from the bowl i smoke it too hot. I have burned out a couple.

Agree with all, but for number 6. I have done it for years without ill effect. Just make sure you clench during the whole process

Never thought of that. Will have to be very careful in future. Thankfully it hasn't happened....yet

There is an old saying around my "watery" part of the world: "Old sailors never die, they just get little dinghies." Just sayin' ....

21. DON'T smoke English/Balkans in mixed company I had to stop and reflect on this. The "company" I've had lately has mostly been my kids and their spouses. And while I enjoy seeing them,I also enjoy seeing them go.They still think it's ok to "clean out" for fridge and can't seem to wash a dish even if their left eating off the countertop. So when I'm tired of them I light up the smellies English/Balkin I can find. Usually a cheap cigar will do,but I do have some Tamboluka stashed, and where my wife actually likes the room note, everyone else runs.Oh how I wish I had more,I love the taste.
