Last night I told the wife I had a package outside. It was a book I ordered. So, she went out and got the mail. This morning she asked why I didn't open the mail. I told her that it was a book I already had a copy of but ordered it by mistake: Trader Vic's Book of Food and Drink. See note at bottom So I take my afternoon vacation to the living room and see two packages. Clueless as I am known to be sometimes I stared for a moment or two. One of our members was paying attention to a post I made in reply to Wolfman on White Knight. I mentioned having a tin but would be a while before I tried it. Charlie gave me two generous samples, one of WN and one of Tsuge Fujin. I have wanted to try the gods series of Tsuge, but it always gets pushed back for another. Now, it's one thing for a gift. It's another that a member picked up on one comment and decided to gift me, but Charlie sent me a package last year in the other forum. Then he goes silent. Charlie (or Charley. Forgive me if I got it wrong, but the envelope and note is by my PC table in Vacationland (living room), thank you very much and both Tobaccos got put in my lineup for this evening. Thank you for the attention to detail. I am shocked and blessed at the same time. Now, for Trader Vic's books. His autobiography and all his cookbooks are a pleasure to read. If you recall the run we started on Holger Danske Orange, back in the late Eighties the only online way to get books was knowing a dealer who was on Interlock. I was looking for all the TV books I could get, and when I came down to the final few the lady at the book store told me there had been an increase in popularity of his books, ergo the price was up. A little detective work showed me that I started the run and when I was done it ended and prices went down by half. The shame is I ordered the wrong one, had to reorder the right one, which I have already. Since I can't get to the basement it is easier just to buy another. After I croak, my kids will kill me for leaving so much "stuff".

David, that sure was nice of Charlie....he seems okay in my ( cookbook ) book as well. We do have some great people within this forum👍 Enjoy your two new tobacco’s tonight and after a bowl or three post your thoughts, thanks.
Well at least your kids will wait until you croak ( God Forbid ) before they go through your personal belongings. I have a family member that searches through all of my draws and personal belongings. Every time I stay and visit by my daughter’s. It’s all been recorded on a small laptop I leave on, in hibernation mode and my very tiny 5 WIFI camera’s are motion sensored and well hidden. I get to see all angles of my bedroom. That’s the main reason I have two safes in my room. Inside one is a copy of a 📀 dvd 📀 showing what was done on camera!!! Also explaining why he was left a “ short story “ written by me and an envelope with a crisp brand new $1.00 bill. Life’s a joy!!!

Smoking the Tsuge Fujin at the moment in an MM Hardwood. This seems to have a nice amount of nicotine with full array of English notes. What this has going for it is that as full of flavor that it is it is pleasant and is soft on the tongue. I don't want to say mild, because that has a whole different. It's like Long Island Iced Tea. Four Straight Liquors and some coke and juice, but still goes down smooth. When you puff this it escapes your mouth very fast. Usually I slowly exhale. This stuff flies as you would expect a god of wind

Went (almost) right into the White Knight. Usually I plan things ahead of time, but I got pretty excited today. I don't know whether I can even categorize this. I've never had Balkan Sobraine, save a bowl maybe forty-five years ago. This tobacco is really fine. It leaves a mist on your tongue. I do not get any extras other than English or Balkan, but this doesn't need more. It's being smoked in an oak pipe that has proven itself over time. The strength is moderate, as was the Tsuge. It's not as smooth, but not smooth in a good way. When exhaling the smoke goes but some smokiness remains behind. I think that is what I will remember and smoke it for the most. Walking the alleys of the Casbah, enjoying the smells of roasted muffin. This tobacco brings that to mind. Pardon me while I get on the Marrakesh Express

David, WhiteKnight I some often in between my other opened tobacco’s. WK is a smooth, creamy, sweet light woodsy extremely enjoyable smoke for me, glad your enjoying the blend. In November I’ll be going over the BlackHouse, which is a bit stronger then WK, but in a pleasant way. At the 2011 Chicago Pipe show there was what Master blenders called a “ Balkan Sobranie Throwdown" contest. BlackHouse was blended by Master blender Russ Oulette, at the end he was the hands down winner, and this is his championship mixture👍👍👍 It has become my favorite Balkan blend since the ORIGINAL Balkan Sobranie, it’s that good.

Actually I remember it was a split decision. Black House won the tasting panel and Blue Mountain won the peoples choice. I did the thrown down blind later in the year including the Gallaher era control sample and a Sobranie House era sample from the davecave. I used the same size Castello shape 30's with similar draws. The vintage tobacco was easy to taste but I was surprised that the Sutliff won my taste buds. The guy who put on the throwdown wrote some very interesting tobacco papers titled The Vintages Project. He removed them from the internet for a possible book but you might be able to find something on the Way Back Machine.
