I need some help discovering the title of an old black and white movie I saw as a child. I don't really remember many details. The movie started out with this old man and his daughter being executed as witches and the town planted a tree over their grave to keep them from coming back. It then transitions to the twentieth century, and I think lightning strikes the tree and their spirits escape and they come back as humans. Somehow the girl meets a guy and they fall in love and end up getting married. I just remember the end of the movie one of her daughters is acting peculiar and the wife remarks to her husband that she has her concerns that that daughter might turn out to be a witch. I guess the wife gave up being a witch to marry the guy.
Any of you old movie buffs familiar with what this movie might be? I'd kind of like to see it again.

I haven't seen the movie, but love Muir and Topper. Loved the TV shows that were offshoots, too. Muir Movie had me crying at the end

That sounds like "I Married a Witch" with the lovely Veronica Lake. She was not much of an actor but most of us could stare at her all day and night.

And of course, Veronica was the inspiration for Jay Ward's "Lake Veronica", home of Moose and Squirrel.

I Married A Witch, directed by René Claire, co-starring Fredric March, Susan Hayward, Cecil Kellaway, and Robert Benchley. One of my favorite pictures!

Wife and I enjoyed it. Better than 99% of what's on our 200+ cable channels.

Even with all my streaming options, whenever I search for a movie recommended from this forum, there is always a $3.99 charge to watch it. It’s a conspiracy!

Thanks for the tip...It costed me $3.25 for the year, they ripped me off! Watching the movie now....the opening of the movie as they speak of burying the ashes under the oak...that practice is still used on some forums.

Those are the lyrics to the song he sings when he's thoroughly polluted.
