Hello everyone! I’ve been on a couple of Pipe forums in the past. I took an internet break and came back to find that the forum I normally posted in had closed. I found this great forum while googling pipe forums. I see several familiar names floating around! My name on the other forums has been Adwyth, but I decided a new name for a new place is in order. I’m from north Alabama. I have been smoking pipes for nearly 15 years. I look forward to hanging out and smoking a bowl with you fine gents and ladies! Welcome! Is that near Green Bow?

Our new member is not very talkative, but I will take a shot at this. Since the guy who wrote the novel (Winston Groom) is a historian and an Alabamian, I always assumed that Green Bow was really Greensboro--just a few miles south of Tuscaloosa. Note that Forrest is named after a Confederate general (Nathan Bedford Forrest), and Greensboro is named after a Revolutionary War general--Nathaniel Greene. Just makes sense for a historian to do that sort of thing. So no. I think if Green Bow is Greensboro, it would be in the central part of the state. Just my 2 cents' worth...

Just proves that life is like a box of chocolates...

Maybe his internet isn't functioning at this time. Hopefully, it will make connection once again... Greensboro is located more on the West side of Alabama, just a tad South of Tuscaloosa and West of Montgomery. Greenbow, Alabama is a fictional town in Greenbow County (also fictional). There is a town located about 30 to 35 miles South Southwest of Montgomery called Greenville, which is similar to the area of Greenbow described in the book. Hey, they do have a Walmart Supercenter located there too, so there you go
