I haven’t seen anyone start a Columbus Show thread yet. It’s only three and a half weeks away now.
I'll be there from mid to late Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. When not wandering around, I will be found helping out at the Paul's Pipe Shop tables.

We'll be there. Anyway you can get Dan to put a 1# bag of arrowhead in the mix for Nikki? I should just make the trip on meeting night. So I can hang out with you yahoos again.

I’m sure some Arrowhead will be there. I can let Dan know that at least one pound is spoken for so that he puts enough in the show bins. Dan can’t make it to the show because Back to the Bricks in Flint is that weekend. Huge car show in the street right in front of the shop. Chris, Eva, and I will be running the Paul's Pipe Shop table at the show.

The only show I currently serve as a vendor for (refurbished estates) is Raleigh, NC each April. I was one of nearly 50 vendors this year, ranging from low end factory pipes to high-end artisan. Most vendors and attendees in Raleigh are VERY friendly...folks get along really well. So, how does Columbus compare to Raleigh? Approximately how many vendors, and how's the vibe? I would like to consider doing 2 shows per year...maybe adding Columbus in August could work in 2019 for me.

Columbus was the first show I attended, and that was last year. In comparison the TAPS show seemed kind of small, but it was still a VERY good show and we enjoyed it. Hubby especially enjoyed making his first pipe. Once you get to know the people I think it would have a similar vibe. Everybody seemed to really be enjoying themselves.

Good to know. I did the Richmond show one time. The vibe was less than desirable. It seemed too 'competitive' to me, and grading on a curve, not so very friendly. More times than not, visitors to my table had their head down and most were not interested in a hello, much less to chat a bit. 125 vendors...and to me, not nearly enough traffic to support that many vendors. I'm guessing that's one reason it's done.
Raleigh is wonderful, and Columbus sounds very interesting. Thanks Margaret.

Heck, at the Raleigh pipe show 2 years ago I walked away with POUNDS of samples!! From Comoy’s alone I was able to jar 4 pint size jars of cask #7 once I arrived back home, this guy even helped me fill up 4 medium Ziplock bags. He just needed the tins for inventory. What was really enjoyable was that there were picnic like tables in the lobby area and a bunch of great people were hanging out talking like we ALL knew each other for years👌👍👍

In previous years columbus had a smoking tent. Last year was the first without one. Im hoping that it makes a return. I'm looking forward to seeing my favorite yahoos in a couple weeks.

No tent for the last two years. Two years ago Drew Estates pulled out on their tent sponsorship one (!) week before the show because they had decided to pull out of the pipe tobacco market. I don’t know if a new sponsor has signed up for this year.

The vibe is laid back. I live only a 4 hour drive away. So, a lot of people that I know from near home and also the Chicago Show are there. The Show features a raffle which includes many pipes.

Should be there by opening. Weather may slow traffic a bit. Wife and I are going to stop at some antique places beforehand.
