I think I have a small problem with Missouri Mershaum Corn Cobs. Recently I was caught putting away some new cobs. I was asked how many of those things are in those boxes. I said a few I guess, they are unsmoked pipes. I was then asked why I needed them. I answered with you never know when you need one and these are my favorite styles.
So as it stands at this time I have 42 unsmoked cobs. They range from the Country Gent to the Tom Saywer. As for the Smoked ones I have 33 of them. They range from the Cobbit Wizzard to the Morgan.

So, what’s your problem??? Personally, I don’t see one, except you have a liking/fetish for some well made Cobs that are excellent smokers. Eventually you will be smoking your “ now “ unsmoked Cobs. At this point I see no reason for any Cob therapy👌👍. Purchase more before you smoke one of your new ones, you might need to then sit down and talk with a specialist.....or not! PS I will also suggest that at least one of your Cobs be a Dagner Design Cob Poker Pipe....excellent smokers👌👍

I've never cared much for aged cobs. I sunbath mine in the driveway all summer, use Elmer's Glue to put the little rings back on and normally change out for a fresh dozen after the holidays every year. A C-note a year is pretty cheap smoking for such a great smoke. JMHO.

Sorry but I can’t detect any problem. Even though pipes made from Briar look great none will smoke better than a cob and cobs are inexpensive. Trying to explain one’s need for additional pipes is an exercise in futility if you’re talking with a non-pipe smoker.

I feel the need to add a couple or three each of the Jesse James series. And two each of the Diplomats.

I agree the only time I smoke a legend is in the work shop or while fishing.
When I'm out and about I usually grab one of cob nosewarmers. A nice short smoke and easy to clench.

Martin, for me they smoke well but with roughly 30 uses I burn a hole thru the chamber wall near the stem. I’ve never had a burnout with any other MM Cob.

To be honest, the ONLY MM pipe I don’t care for is their Legend...the Cob is to soft for my liking. ...I've noticed this... but they smoke well, and LL is my friend, so... ...but I appreciate this. To be fair, I do feel like the CG is a lot more durable (because it IS). And confession time...the only real reason why I love my Legend is because it was my first cob and the one on which I 'learned' the hobby. So there's a degree of sentimentality. Plus, sometimes I often have only enough time for a Legendary smoke, but not enough time for a Gentlemanly smoke. As for the OP - I see no problem there. You're supporting the corn industry - doing your bit for the environment.

My wife asked me how many pipes I needed. I told her "as many as you have shoes." She never asked again.
