I was wondering if anyone ever packs based on where they are going? I ask this because last week my wife and I spent the week in Shenandoah Valley and I thought packing Ole Shenandoah Appalachian Harvest would be appropriate just because of the name, Shenandoah. Maybe it’s a weird thing but I found it fun. After traveling many miles on a gravel road with no signs of civilization, we found a small spot to sit next to a flowing mountain creek. The tobacco is nice but the location made it the best.

I've never done that, but I like the idea. Looks like a nice spot, too.

Interesting concept. I hate to think about where I'd have to go to fully enjoy F&K's Merde de Cheval.

Beautiful picture, that’s where I truly find inner peace....when smoking a pipe and listening to the sounds of Mother Nature👍 A stream gently flowing with birds singing and chirping in the background. Oh, do I miss camping, hopefully one day I will be able to set up camp in late Spring or early Fall for a month and live off the land.

I frequently do. The pipes and tobaccos are relevant to my destination and what I have on the itinerary.

I never really gave this much thought since the California trip this August will be the first vacation as a pipe smoker. The tobacco I will for sure take is Lane 1Q (it's an all around favorite), and Dunhill Early Morning (I smoke it every morning with coffee). The first stop (day 1) will be in Albuquerque where I will visit Montes pipe shop and pick an appropriate Albuquerque tobacco before we go visit the happy weirdos in Madrid. The second stop (days 2,3,4,5) which is really a destination but also a stop will be Big Bear, California for my Bro n Laws wedding. The wedding tobacco will be HH Kentucky Bold (drunk repellent) and the general purpose Big Bear tobacco will be Cornell and Diehl Autumn Evening (this stuff smells mountainy tome) . The third stop/destination (day 6) will be in Ontario, California to have dinner with Puddin's younger brother who's, I'm quite sure, butt will pucker up at the sight of my pipe (and as another thread stated "my house my rules") so I'm convinced there will be no brown leafy enjoyment that evening. The forth stop/destination (days 7,8,9 and maybe 10) will be Laguna Beach, California. The beach tobaccos will be Sutliff 1M Main Sail and Lane LL7 Captians Quarters (Beach and nautical theme) . We leave Laguna Beach either early Wednesday or Thursday morning and don't have to be back until Sunday I figure we can have a leisurely drive back stopping where ever we want. Rest assured I will seek out the finest tobacco this trip will have to offer.
In conclusion, I guess I do pack for the trip/destination.

I do this. When I go on holidays to more humid, tropical areas, I tend to bring along some tropical aromatics with me, just for fun. Villager Jamaican Export, Rattray's Exotic Passion/Orange, C&D Founding Fathers are good choices.
If I am heading out into a colder climate, of course I need to pack my English and Balkan blends like Vintage Syrian or English Luxury.
And when I am heading out on the water (or open seas) I can't help but to bring out the Virginia flakes, like Mac Baren's Navy Flake or Stokkybye's PS400. Also Pirate Kake usually fits the bill nicely.
If I am going out of town for the fall and winter holidays, I absolutely must pack C&D Autumn Evening, Golden Days of Yore, whatever Peterson Christmas Blend I still have on hand, Gawith Hogggarth Rum Twist, and Sutliff's Vanilla Custard.
There's lots more but that is what I can think of right off the top of my head.

I was on vacation for the last two weeks (got home on Saturday). I packed an entire Dr.'s bag full of pipes and about 12 tobacco. I packed aromatics, for when I would be around people. I packed a few of my own favorites for just sitting around. And, a few that I thought would go well with the scenery - ESPECIALLY, sitting on the floating dock on the lake at night. It was my first trip with pipe. Can't wait to do it again.

If I’m going to be away from home for several days I have an old camera bag that I will fill with several tins of my favorite blends, up to a dozen pipes, and a handful of accessories. This way I’m prepared for any eventuality. It really upsets me if I discover I don’t have the tobacco or desired pipe available.

I’m leaving on August 8th to spend roughly two weeks or more at my daughters, I have 4 appointments from the 10th to the 15th. Plus I get time to spend with my 3 granddaughter’s as well. I will be packing various briars, Cobs and my favorite Morta pipe. Also this is where my Falcon with 8 different bowls and Kirsten pipe with 5 bowls really helps, much less to carry but still part of my pipe collection I enjoy smoking. I will choose roughly 25 blends, 2 lighters, butane and plenty of other pipe accessories, it takes a small suitcase when I leave here for a while, but it’s worth it👍
My daughter has a large back deck with a deep wooded area towards the entire back of her property, many acres. If I walk in 200 plus feet I can legally hang a target and do some serious shooting, so yes I carry in another bag 2 other pistols besides my carry pistol, I know it’s getting out of hand. But sitting out on the back deck and listening to the wildlife is worth the effort of packing. A few times a deer has walked alongside the fence and the doe and buck followed behind. A number of owls as well, keeps me happy and that’s all that counts.
There is WIFI out on the deck so I’ll be able to still be part of this forum. I greatly appreciate Ya’ll making me feel welcome and at home. It’s a pleasure being here👍👍👍

Hell! I don't even leave for two weeks and I already have most of my crap packed. I have put most of my clothing in my hard side and just tonight I gathered up all of the tobacco I mentioned in an earlier post. I don't have my pipes picked out yet but will soon. I do this because I hate to be ill prepared and as I wander by my trip stuff I can and do think to myself "oh yeah I need that too" and in it goes. Pudding thinks I'm crazy because she can leave with a flip flop, a Q-tip, and a green bandana and make it work.

We did a lot of wine and cider tastings and I packed some Cult Blood Red Moon but never got to have it while there. When the sun came out it was just too hot outside so we sat inside but I thought it would go well with a cider. Since we came home with many bottles, I guess I'll still find out. Just wont have that beautiful mountain view.

When camping or hiking with rest spots here n there, I pack and most enjoy Darin a/k/a Cobguy homemade Daniel Boone blends (e.g., CG Spice Cubes, CG Twist...). With only very little left I save and pack for only the most special outings... these are strictly Winter smokes for me.

Interesting concept. I hate to think about where I'd have to go to fully enjoy F&K's Merde de Cheval. That's easy , FRANCE ! Ought to be a fun trip. While there go to St. Claude and get an Algerian briar pipe , they still get Algerian briar but uwse it for their domestic pipes!! For me it's simple, Royal Yacht and 3 Edwards or Charatans and I'm set to go !

Say its a weekend. Its easy. I take my beloved Billy Budd Blonde, and maybe some Viprati or War Horse or Rimboche SJ. I take about six pipes with me. Done.
BBB so goes with everything. It makes every smoking opportunity magical.
