Rainy June afternoon flashed by looking at the lamentable state of British engineering in my professional British IET engineering magazine , E & T , also looking at my professional American magazine the IEEE's Spectrum, in my humble opinion Mr. Trump is the only hope for Engineering & Technological survival in the USA, & the West, particularly Brexit for a glimpse of hope for the UK's & the West's economic survival. Pardon the politics. PS, FACT :- China out installing the United States in robotics 2:1, China 57,000 units in 2014 against US 26,000 and UK 2,100 sad... India flying reusable space plane, South Korea launching first space mission. NASA has lost the plot there is only space project X . Whoever controls space, controls aircraft routes and travel, and global shipping lanes, but the state of robotics is symptomatic of the rot, and look at the maggot rot in glossy Apple and IPad for those that discern...whoever controls silicon chip fabs (manufacturing) rules techy stuff...China rules... My amateur radio UK Radcom and US QST to browse, as I puff on my pipe listening to the rain drips... just a thought for today from a techie nerd,

The possible exit of the UK fro the EU is perplexing to us here. W know that the economic fallout could be very damaging but, on the other hand, maintaining the sovereignty of your borders is very much on your minds. There must be a way to stay in the EU but still protect your borders. Educate us, Stan.

W know that the economic fallout could be very damaging but, on the other hand, maintaining the sovereignty of your borders is very much on your minds. There must be a way to stay in the EU but still protect your borders. Educate us, Stan. I am not an expert or a professor , I am not qualified in propaganda, pedagogy nor education. So I would not presume to teach, or educate anyone. I voted for Brexit by postal vote. The EU & the UK are economic competitors with the USA, but allies. If we do not get Brexit this time, then I will vote for Brexit next time, until we do achieve Brexit, or I am dead. Business goes on despite political change, for example after the horror of WW1 & 2 business got back to normal , the bankers always win , they say...so a little non violent restructuring of the UK in the EU should profit all but our enemies. I have visited Europe a few times, but I do not know personally any Europeans, but we have an ancient history and culture, with Europe , I do not identify with the EU or Europe, anymore than a Texan , identifies with Mexico or Chile or even Cuba. My father's and Grandfathers faught against Europeans, and I do not speak a European language. Do Texans see themselves as Mexicans? For example ... That is a short reflection , not an educated essay or argument. We will still have stronger trade and business and political with the EU like all our allies and foes, without the incompetent and malicious and corrupt bureaucracy of the EU...

Could be a shot heard around the world. US companies with a significant reliance on British sales may face serious consequences in the immediate future if the U.K. votes to leave the EU. I don't profess to know anything about the long haul except for every action there is a reaction. Vacuums are created and filled, sometimes for the better while others for the worse. Of that I'm quite certain.
As for Mr. Trump, he considers US involvement in NATO to be a bargaining chip. Imagine the US pulling out of NATO? What would Churchill or Eisenhower think? Dangerous thinking IMHO.

Dangerous thinking IMHO. Business is business as they say whether war or peace, blips come and go in cycles , I trust human nature is benign and benevolent on the whole, if not because we are lazy and creatures of habit. Whatever Mr Trump says on the way up in the campaign won't have much effect when he is chained in office with the old skeletons...anchoring him , only a tyrant dictates , a democrat has to obey the common consensus, but he has some energy and dynamism for popular demand for industry and manufacturing, or so it seems , I am no expert, but it is all opinion the philosophers say & the pundits & gurus deny , so have faith bro's & Sisses... Just an old armchair engineers opinion in the smoke rings and the news, keeps me off the streets causing mischief, as they say , I used to be a believer in NASA as a young engineering student, but times change, I would rather trade pipes and tobacco or widgets than throw bombs and behead people, but anything for the peaceful life , as Cicero repeated, better an unjust peace than a just war...but prayers are fine , as long as you keep the gunpowder dry, thorns & roses...so much to do but so little time...
