Everytime I think of STM, I remember sending one of the guys who used to hang out on Bob site a sample pack all the way to S. Africa. Cost me 35.00 in shipping. He went by Piet I think. He got ran off from what I remember. Who didn’t get run off.....lol ...LOL... yes, the BOB forum is/was notorious for a**hat moderator shenanigans... |

I met a few guys from that forum, I don’t like to mention the names of any prior forum. We kept in touch for a while, now I don’t hear from them. One I gifted a one of a kind Bjarne, new. Was gifted to me in ‘88 by Bjarne, I got tired of the pipe sitting in my safe. If I drop dead, it would have been sold. I much rather know who’s enjoying the pipe....never hear from him again as well.
There was an issue with a Mod ridding my back in the open forum, instead of sending me a PM. If you look, I’m one of their top 20 posters of all time. This Mod was rude, I asked for my membership to be closed.

I check now and then....I’ve seen a total of 19 posts in a 24 hour period.....they’re toast!!!

Nice guy. He's the one that informed me that STM was no longer being made, so I posted about it in TAD. He told me they're working on replacements for STM and Isengard. You probably just need to get lucky with whoever is manning the CS email account that day. |

As stated before, the lady who answered my email said it is no longer produced and might return if they can reformulate the blend (Yes they do answer emails from time to time.). It appears that she was not telling me everything; maybe forgetting to inform me about the back door. PS It is funny how redundant the JFH news has become.😟 |

I’ve since moved on, not a problem 👍 Yes, it was Jeff. I always call. In my experience only CoJ, TP and SP ever answer emails in timely manner. Other online retailers - not so much. Some - never. |

Hi I sent an email to the folks at Just For Him and received a response. Apparently the blend is discontinued due to unavailability of components. The representative told me they are trying to reformulate the blend for future sale. It makes me wonder if the loss of McClelland's tobacco is to blame. On a trip to Florida, I went to B&M near Nashville whose house blends were severely affected by McClelland's closing. No doubt there are others. If JFH is having trouble finding the components for today's STM, it IS NOT directly due to McClelland having closed. They had already solved that problem earlier this year. At least one component in STM had been provided by McClelelland. After McClelland closed, JFH had to find a substitute...and they did. Several months ago JFH re-issued a "new' STM using a substitute for the McClelland tobacco used in its creation. The new version was close. VERY close to the previous version. Most STM smokers seemed happy with the new version. I wasn't unhappy with the new version. But, I wasn't as happy as I'd been with the original. Personally, I found the new version a little sweeter than the original. Where the original was more "latakia blend" than "aromatic", the new version was more "aromatic" than "latakia blend". That was disappointing to me. Regardless, any problems JFH is having with STM ingredients today are not directly a McClelland-related issue. It has to be from another source. |
