Steve just put up 4 pages of tobaccos, some familiar, some not. McC blends I have not heard of... reasonable. I don't think I even noticed anything sold off of all four pages. Prices on many... range from cool to acceptable.

It would have to be the last tin on earth before I'd even think about pay'en that price and then I would probably decline still. It's fricken tobacco......and I can live without it. Now if it was the last drink of water.......maybe.

I liked the five one ounce codger tins for 25$. But I am out to pasture for a while. Yes, there are some high ones, but some people pay 300+ for a pouch of Balkan Sobraine. Steve is mostly consignment, so it's not always up to him. the 14 oz Walnut is one my eye is on. Some new tobaccos cost more

Steve Fallon of Pipestud on EBay, and his website is Pipestud Consignments. I was amazed a few months back when people were paying 3X the current price on 3 year old Vintage Syrian that was still available. That fact sent me shopping for 10 large tins to cellar... it just might be a unicorn blend to sell or gift down the road.

As stated before, it's just tobacco, not a mainstay.

His admin is a little rough. Take inventory and pics of everything you send. 30% commission sale but what else is a poor boy to do? I trust his tobacco reviews more than his sales operation. Not cutting on Pipestud too much as I think he's honest but just not very well organized. Keep your powder dry if you conduct business which makes good sense in any transaction.

Yeah, if I ever decide to sell aged tobacco, I will do it on my own a 30% commission is out of my comfort zone, glad he is there as a resource though.

In fairness to Pipestud, most of what he posts for sale sells out in minutes (if not seconds) so the prices seem fair. But, I finally deleted my subscription to his email because I was wasting my time: most things sell out quickly and posting times are erratic . (I had flashbacks trying to buy concert tickets from Ticketron.) And, I wouldn't always get an email back stating my order wouldn't be filled. I'll catch him at a pipe show.

I think most consignment is 30%. The reason I posted today was everything was absolutely in stock

BTW, I want to add that many times I see a post or get an email from the large companies. I won't mention SP and P&C by name. As soon as I go to the site they are already sold out. If they get tens and hundreds of an item and are sold out in an hour, how much easier is it to be sold out when you only have one or two of a rare item? Steve had a gift pack with 5 Balkan Sobraine tins. Price was 1300$ and was sold by the time I saw it. For the eBay price, 400$/tin is about right, but this was in an unopened set. Just sayin.
The Five 1oz tins of codger I wanted, I could have had, but it did sell. Shame it is not payday. But that is no more expensive than 3.5oz of Tabac Manil. And, though most may not care, the tins can get a buck or two each.
When I see some guy on eBay pay 200 for a tin of McC only to find out it was empty (he did get his money back), Steve's 30$ is not so bad. He also sold some of his own tins from his cellar for that price. What were the chances that they wound up on eBay going for much more?
I have had most of the codgers I want to try, but if Steve sold Pink Tutus he gets my business.
Not that I have an opinion, mind you

Anyone know how 4Noggins' commission compares? Not sure, but to show how universal that charge is, I sold a lot of books on Amazon. They barely let you charge enough for postage and took at least 30% overall, postage included.

Bought a few tins from Steve and have been very happy. I'm a page 2 guy mostly 20-40 dollars less known and stay away from the hot or pricy classics. Example being the Red label Fox Capanile. Being new to piping it's providing, albeit small, a glimpse of the past as well as the aging process. It's only tobacco and yet it's only money as well.

Steve Fallon's commission is way worth it on tobacco. He has the connections to get good prices and does all the packaging and work. Ship it out to him and a few weeks later you have a check. On the pipe side same thing, except he puts on eBay. Correct me if I am wrong, but sales of tobacco have ceased on eBay. Just my 15 cents worth!
BTW I think the 4 pages of late is the norm.

Yup, the 4 pages have been there for a while. Steve is a great guy to do business with and in general as well. I’ve not seen ANY what was referred to on eBay as collectible pipe tobacco in a couple of weeks. eBay got wise and finely put a stop to those collectibles!!

If the eBay statement is true, I celebrate it. Ha, ha,ha, all those non pipe smoking hoarders with closests full of Exotic Orange. Love it and just when they thought they could get more as a result of the name change to Passion!

I have bought from Steve several times. I got some great prices on very old, codger tubs. Also have bought some tins of hard to find blends. Communications were excellent. Shipping was secure and fast. Ordering with an email is the only less than ideal thing for me. I like Pipestud. Would enjoy meeting him in person at a shiw one day.

David, thanks for the heads up.....I’m going to take a look now👍 PS
WOW......$115.00 for an older tin of Escudo.....that’s a tad to much!Ya got that right. It would have to be the last tin on earth before I'd even think about pay'en that price and then I would probably decline still. It's fricken tobacco......and I can live without it. Now if it was the last drink of water.......maybe. It's the enamel tin. They regularly go for between $140 and $175, and I've seen them go for over $200. There are people out there who believe that they're actually Cope's, which is funny because Cope stopped making Escudo in 1952 after selling the blend, stock, and machinery to Gallaher. I have a couple of these tins that I bought for around $25 a few years ago. Barnum was right.

But to set much more then that on fire is just not justifiable for me sir.

You are not allowed to sell sealed tins on ebay. Hence the over 100 sealed tins there every week. If someone reports you they will send you a message that you can't do that and shut down your auctions (this happened to me once). If you keep doing it and they keep getting reports, they will eventually disable your account (or so they say). I have yet to see or hear of anyone actually getting their account disabled on any forum that I have ever read.
My thinking is they turn a blind eye because of the revenue and only "deal" with it when they are forced to.
