do they not have that in USA? Never heard of those Scalextric is a brand of slot cars and slot car racing sets which first appeared in the late 1950s, manufactured by the British firm Minimodels. The brand is currently owned and distributed by Hornby. Nope, never heard of that brand before, but I know and use to race Tyco and other brands of slot cars. Available in different scale sizes as well......was a lot of fun!!

I thought it was a worldwide thing. Tyco will do the job. Substitute Tyco for Scalextric in my previous statement.

Peanut butter and orange marmalade on high protein bread. Hot coffee. Poured two cups, one to drink, the other in the fridge to cool off so it can accompany my smoking later. I don't know why I posted this in this thread, except you all were talking so much about food i got hungry and thought this was the other thread. But to avoid getting too far off course, I did have delightful pizza in Vienna. It had tomato slices on it. Less tomato sauce and more actual tomatoes. And maybe a little vinegar taste. But really, there are so many many great reasons to go to Vienna, if you are into food, if you are into music, if you are into history, if you are into art, if you are into people watching, if you are into playing music, if you are into coffee, and as I described earlier, it was on my bucket list to smoke a pipe at an outdoor cafe in Vienna, which I accomplished and will never forget.

I have not visited Austria but seen their shore while floating on Lake Konstance.
There have been only two Austrians I have known and they were both solid although neither smoked a pipe.
One told me a humours story about their village being "liberated" in 1945 by the US Army. All the village elders assembled on the village square, the burgermeister with his sash, the band playing, etc. They had about enough of The Third Reich by this point. Then the jeeps arrived and their liberators were Puerto Rico Army Guard speaking mostly Spanish. Not what they expected.

I find that ^^^^^^^^ very interesting, I’ve never read that before, always thought it was the US Army. However, an Austrian would know for sure. “ Media hype has always been amongst us “

The Texas Division (36th USA) was the Texas Guard. Anyway, that was Herbert's story and I have no reason to doubt him.

I don't really care for the song. It's more the joke I was going for. It fell so flat!!! We have much in common, including a few references most here did not pick up. If you are experiencing despair over this, I took the liberty of looking up the N. Ireland life line: www.lifelinehelpline.info Or you can open a can of Guinness (One of my favorites),light up your favorite pipe tobacco(preferably in a pipe) ,prop your feet on the Ottoman/table/chair and watch some Monty Python.

I wound my own motors, hand shaped the brushes, built the frames from brass tubing soldered together I used a balsa jig of my own creation. And I made the bodies by shaving down old model cars. All other necessary hardware was acquired wherever possible. They ran great, but they were too fast to control. I shifted to slot drag racing and cleaned up.

I know, but you wrote that he was born in Linz, which he wasn't. That was my sole reason for writing my post. Stanhill you can join Legend Lover and myself in our joint misery. Yes your correction was spot on, but misunderstood. If you feel so inclined, simply follow the instructions in my post to Legend Lover above. PS The link to the first option is updated below reflecting your nation of origin: www.depression-understood.org/information/denmark.htm With that said, I hope you are well enough to take option 2, where the beer like the pipe tobacco is a personal decision.

I was there. It was beautiful. Just strolled along smoking Cuban cigars all day along iirc. They have a really cool and really old museum of natural history there. The place is full of taxidermy specimens. It's like a zoo of dead animals.
