Thanks,

Would not have said it a year ago, but Burleys all the way David, That may be my second choice, but I am not sure, because I also have an affinity for straight Virginias. What are your favourite Burley tobaccos?

Absolutely English/ Balkan since before dirt was formed.
C&D Engine 99 Arango Balkan Supreme C&D star of the East flake
But, I do like very much an "other" -- MacB HH Old Dark Fired , as many may have noticed.

I've progressed from 759 , the finest Balkan ever made, to mostly Straight Virginias now. Royal Yacht is my st. Va of choice with an occasional bowl of Balkan Supreme ( basically Va based with the addition of Lat. and other orientals) . Burleys and I don't mix well so I don't smoke any if I can help it! My three faves : Royal Yacht Peterson's Deluxe Mixture Arango's Balkan Supreme

It's hard to choose, but at this exact moment my favorite is American burley. C&D's Billy Budd Blonde easily takes first place with Pegasus and Old Joe Krantz tied for second.

I like straight Virginias and Va/Pers equally.
McClelland 40th Anniversary - It's available, you just have to pay thru the nose for it. I don't.
RO Perique Series GP-11
Haddo's Delight - It's really an "other".
And since I can, I'm going to name some others I like equally well:
Esoterica Dunbar Esoterica Dorchester PS-LBF St. James Flake FVF HU - Director's Cut Solani - Silver GL Pease - Sixpence GL Pease - Telegraph Hill GL Pease - Union Square Rattrays - HOTW SToP - WarHorse RR SToP - WarHorse Bar Mac Baren - Acadian Perique Savinelli Doblone d'Oro Mac Baren - St Bruno
That's for Starters.

I didn't realise that aromatics were further divided into light and heavy.
I chose light, but I've no idea whether or not my top 3 are light or heavy.
1. Macbaren cube 2. Orange dream 3. Holger danske mango and vanilla
But I'm not sure if these would be my top 3 blends.

I'm gonna go with "Light Aromatics". I don't go for cherry, peach, and all that, but I sure do like a Cavendish with a smidgen of vanilla.

My top 3 that are still made are all Wilke. #515 Best Make Pipemakers Choice Now, I have a lifetime supply of FMC, which would have been #1. And I love latakia heavy blends like special Latakia Flake. But English light aros is probably the center. On my birthday I think will open the tin of Penzance that Tom gave me a couple of years ago. I have forgotten what it tasted like.

I’m going to follow sablebrush52 lead. I love Va, VaPer, American (and non-American) Burley and English about equally. Some of my favorites are: Samuel Gawith FVF, SJF, Skiff GLP Telegraph Hill Germain King Charles Esoterica Dorchester, Dunbar HU Makhuwa Sutliff ERR Match Mac Baren HH Burley Flake H&H Louisiana Red Arango Balkan Supreme C&D Opening Night I have many more I can add, but that would take a while.

VaPer was my vote. My favorites, McClelland #2015 and Tudor Castle, are unobtanium on the market but in royal abundance in my shack. My next three in no particular order would be Sam Gawith St. James Flake, Esoterica Dunbar and Dorchester.
I've smoked a lot of Escudo but it needs some age, at least five years, to really hit its prime. Try C&D Kajun Kake if you really want to take a walk on the wild side.

Recently I've had a taste for Virginia's and VaPers. Burleys have moved in close though. Far cry from the heavy lat englishes I was smoking a few months ago.
Hard to pick a top 3, I'm still exploring.

… I smoke a variety of tobaccos...to name just one category would not work for me... I'm with Peterd-Buffalo Spirit. I'm fortunate enough to have a wide and deep cellar so variety is for me. Love Butternut Burley and HH Burley Flake as of recent. Looking forward to Warhorse Bar if/when P&C get it in stock.

It's a very good tobacco. A light English, quite tasty, but must be smoked very slowly to get the flavors, otherwise it's just smoke. Slowly, it has quite a lot of nuance. I don't smoke it that often only because I often don't smoke slowly enough, and Engine 99, for example, stands up better to barbarian puffing.

Never had a plug I didn't like... Hey Baboo what do you think of Wessex Gold Brick plug, assuming you've had some? I got an alert that I didn't get to at SP in time. Hopefully it will show up elsewhere like the other recent drops so I can give it a try. With the lighter shade Va's it seems like a departure from the rest.
