If you don't already have an MM Country Gentleman, Diplomat 5th Ave and Mark Twain, I'd start there and spend more on good tobacco.

For fairly priced pipes it's hard to beat Savinelli or Briarworks.

I have a Grabow Freehand and it's a great pipe. I grab for a cob most of the time, the grabow is 2nd to them. I'm with Darin with the cobs and more tobacco. A MM cob is cheap and a GREAT smoking pipe. Smokingpipes has some Italian briars on sale for less than $75 if you're set on one.

It never takes long for the MM Cobs, Savinelli and Estate pipes to pop-up when this is asked.

Everyone should own a few MM pipes made with the Country Gentleman bowl. They are inexpensive and last for years once broken in properly👌👍

I recommend Savinelli unfinished and Morgan Bones pipes👍 I just started breaking in an unfinished Sav 616 KS that's perfectly drilled for draw and will pass a cleaner like an $800 pipe. I've seen some Morgan Bones pipes posted here which look super sharp; however, I wasn't aware they were affordable?

The Butz Choquin Supermate pipe is a real beauty. They have a natural finish and I have never seen one with a putty fill. They are light and smoke great. They have them on sale at PipesandCigars.com now for $76 something.

Mark, When you have time later take a look at the Bones series that Morgan Pipes has for sale. Starting from $25.00 to $39.99, worth every penny and then some. Last week I ordered the Bones Poker Pipe with a slight bend to the stem. It takes roughly 2weeks, only a certain amount are made at a time. I’m extremely impressed with the Savinelli unfinished pipes, even the one that looks like it went through WWII....it smokes outstanding!! I also own 2 320’s that I’m extremely pleased with👍👍. The 616 KS you ordered is a beauty!! If you purchase a blasted/rusticated 616 KS you’ll spend $180.00 plus. Enjoy your new pipe for many happy and healthy years🎈🎊🎉🎈🎊🎉 www.morganpipes.com/store/p61/Bones_Pipes.html

A marque that doesn't see much notice is Mountbatten a series made in the old Charatan factory in the '60s thru early '80s. They were made by the apprentices using the same briar and stummels as used on the other Charatan lines. You can find them on e-prey in the $50. thru $80. range. They came in both smooth and blasted finish and smoke very well

Color me impressed. You can't go wrong selecting a pipe from the Bones line as a first pipe or first briar pipe.

The Morgan bones seems like a good one to go for. I've only heard good things about this.
I can't stop the PMs which may have gone back and forward since this thread started, but I've only just noticed the bit about selling.
Just a gentle reminder about the 100 post rule. 😉

There are many English estate pipes to be had online for under $100. I got two beautiful Comoy's recently for $50 each. They are both super clean, lightly smoked pipes with excellent engineering. Superb smokers.

I think one of the best pipes in the $100 price range is the Sav Bing's Favorite.
Though, if the total budget is $100, a few Missouri Meerschaum corn cobs, a Czech tool, some pipe cleaners, and a wide variety of tobacco is the way to go.
