I've recently cone across someone who has a collection of pipes, and does not smoke himself. He's given me a primo shot at his collection and I will post my findings here. Anyone else who has estate pipes they deem worthy of praise is welcome to do so as well.

He usually sells his pipes on eBay but prefers a direct deal so I'm certainly lucky taboot.

He went 10 a piece, on some good briars. Hope that trend holds.

Sounds great. I thinned my briar herd from approximately 90 to below 40 on EBay. Between EBay and Pay Pal fees, I didn't make anything worth talking about on mid-grades and the profit I made on high-grades was somewhat diminished.
When the time comes, I'll probably just sell the rest of mine here or commission them for whatever they bring minus the killer fee. I'd just like to see them go to somebody who will appreciate the pipes.

I might sell some cheaply priced once I get a decent collection going. Just so you don't have to have a bidding war on eBay, and my price won't be far from 10 a piece. I despise highway robbery as much as the next guy.

Congratulations on your good luck. Myself, when I plan on unloading some pipes, I think I will just give them away to a piper...most likely someone just starting out here on the Patch. I've given about 10 Comoys away to friends, and folks who became friends. Just keeping the pipes and love, alive.

Currently these are the only 3 I've got from the guy but, there are more to come, he said he'd have to open a few boxes of pipes. I'll post my findings asap, estate pipes are the barn finds of the pipe world. So a few gems are near guaranteed, he said there's be a few Custombilt pipes among them. Not sure what those are like but looking forward to the mystery beyond. imgur.com/gallery/VbJ4aJWEach was 10 a piece.

I think we are all as excited as you are about seeing them. Love estate pipes, sometimes you find some gems. I found a Yello-bole Canadian in a junktique shop for $1.25...couldn't get the money out of pocket fast enough...left my phone # in case she gets more. Don't have a picture of that one presently, but I need to take some more up-to-date pics of new acquire-es.

Thes are what I was given for now, but I believe the rest will also fall in line with the 10 a piece rule, my camera made them look a bit darker but still nice pipes.

The guy said he deals with Custombilt pipes at times, which are of a chubbier sort made out of some of the finest briar a avalable back then. And yes I'm referring to the algerian briar which I've had nothing but good things to say about, here's a pic of what to expect. imgur.com/gallery/vGlAl18

That's nice, although, I'm not sure I like the 'scuffs'. It’s a Custonbuilt, they’re great smokers👍 If it’s not a deep scuff they can be properly dealt with.

That's not the exact pipe, although I hope the ones he has are a bit more meaty, being that their pre ww2 algerian briar.

I really dig the proportions on that four-square shape. Unusual and fun.

That's nice, although, I'm not sure I like the 'scuffs'. I've never seen a Custombilt without the distinctive "truck rut" rustication.
A collector's guide republished to pipedia implies smooth Custombilts exist, and if I ever see one, I will buy it on the spot
