It's impossible for me to know if any of the pouch blends are actually available behind a counter, so I can't say, "Perfect to pick up a pouch on a fishing trip."
I've tried a couple new tobaccos today. One is Lane's RR. Maybe a comparison later. For now...
All of the Villiger Blends I have had prior, like Drexel (also comes in pouches), have delivered what is promised. This promises English, but has Burley in it, and it is one of the English Blends with Perique, in case you wonder.
Pouch Odor was regular. It does not have the Hwang Factor that Super Value English has. It's not tangy at all.
It took a while to light. I was in the process of calling mom, asking if her refrigerator was running. After she said yes, I told her she better go catch it. Now, this may not be funny, but mom's memory is going and I can get by with it once a week.
And the crowd roars!
The key to lighting this is really just to draw a little deeper to let the flame down further. Then it stayed lit until the bottom.
Flavors: You got your lat and perique. I think the burley brings the blend halfway back across the ocean. I get a little spicy bread after taste.
It leaves a tingly aftertaste like putting cinnamon in a York Peppermint Patty.
Nic Hit is there, close to average. It would not offend lovers or haters.
Villiger Blends stay fairly fresh in the pouch if you fold it tight.
I also liked the fact (remember, I'm on the phone) that I could load it mindlessly (like many other things I take on). I paid absolutely no attention to how I loaded it.
So you have an English that hits the bases, Perique making it a Round Tripper. Mentioned above, there is no broth, under-flavor with this. That can be a good thing, but I suggest:
This would be a good tobacco to wake up with. It may be great on a windy day. The wind may take away the Hwang, but this has none to give. You do get the spice, high wind or not.
I would not make this a nighttime smoke. It doesn't give you a peaceful, easy feeling, and it might let you dow ow own.
I'm going to give this 3.25 of 5 stars. It really is just a tad above average. But thou needst not fear. If you have a pouch lying around, this would be a good one to take with you without thinking too hard. Leave it somewhere where it's in sight, like next to your car keys or strip club pass.
