I've got about a little over 100 grams of Condor Ready Rub that I got in a trade. It is a little dry but smokes ok. Flavor wise I like it, but it bites me a bit has a tendency to burn hot. Worst of all during last quarter of the bowl the flavor mostly Burns off leaving some lackluster tobacco behind.
It was surprisingly hard to find something to blend it with to improve the characteristics for me. Everything else seemed to clash with the flavors.
Then I found the miracle combination: 50\50 HH Old Dark Fired with Condor RR. The flavors work well together. The burn is slowed down and the last part of the bowl tastes fantastic.
What is your odd combination that works really well for you?

I've never tried mixing tobaccos. I'm too scared of wasting them.
Tell me, how many combinations did you try before you stumbled upon that?

Paddy, I can’t tell you how many blends I’ve mixed in the 50 years I’ve enjoyed the hobby......it’s endless. For the most part some tasty blends. Only a few I’ve made in the past will stay that way....the past!!

I didn't waste any though, I persevered through the bad bowls.I figured I am not likely to smoke the Condor as it is so I really am not really wasting anything. Another combination, though not as odd, was 75% Five Brothers and 25% Lane Very Cherry. I found myself with a few ounces of very Cherry and couldn't stand it by itself. I called it my Pine Brother Cough Syrup blend.

For us somewhat seasoned amateurs, post up some more blends that worked for you. Yes, please do. I've got about 20g of condor blended that I don't care too much for so I'm all ears.

Any Virginia blends well with ODF.....JMHO
Take your favorite Burley 50% blend with 25% of your favorite Virginia, add 15% Latakia and 10% Perique to kick it up a notch....you just created a superb smoke. I keep a spreadsheet of tobacco’s I blend by percentages.

I don't know how unusual this combo is, but I like it and have adopted it as my lawn mowing blend. Mix Lane 1q with any straight Virginia 50/50 in a cob, and I'm good to go!

I let the master blenders earn their pay for the most part but normally prefer a little sweet Cavendish, approximately 20-25%, with Wessex Burley Slice or Solani Aged Burley Flake to satisfy my sweet tooth.
If Christmas Cheer is too tart for your tastes, give it a little 25% Carter Hall. It'll settle down nicely.

You guys have emboldened me. I got some Daughters & Ryan Picayune. It is very strong. Kick in the teeth strong. And nicotine for a week in every bowl.
If it were 120 proof bonded bourbon, I would just add some water, or club soda, to take the sharp edge off.
I am going to try mixing it with something like Carter Hall. Get the flavor without the punch.

The blend was developed to recreate a popular local cigarette that disappeared in the 1960s. I can't even imagine inhaling it.

I mentioned in “what are you smoking” last month. I had a new Macbaren Virginia flake and a coin of Escudo left. So I rubbed them out and let them sit about 15 Minuets. I really enjoyed it. So much I opened a new tin of each and have been doing all over again about twice a week. I also purchased 2 more tins of each and put a tin of Escudo and a mason jar of the virginia (after reading the other thread here about square and rectangular tins the past few days. They are in jars) and labeled one 9/2020 and the other 9/2023. Will see how 2 yeats and 5 years goes!

I said this before I think but, being old and without a memory that amounts to much let me say this again. Chocolate Cake and Grapefruit JuiceRon years back I was shocked by the beauty of the pipes you were making. If by some miracle, greater than the one of the parting of the Red Sea, should occur and I was to find myself sitting with you on your front porch smoking our pipes and you offered me a slice of chocolate cake no doubt I would keel over from fear because you might expect me to enjoy a glass of grapefruit juice that you would offer with it. I’ve found mixing 5100 and JackKnife Plug together in a 60/40 ratio, (60% 5100 - 40% JackKnife Plug) makes a great smoke.

This isn't a blend I came up with, but I always thought Boswell's Bear Blend sounds like something that would never work, but somehow really does: a caramel and cherry aro, with added Latakia.

I have smoked this blend. It was one of the 11 samples I picked up when I got my pipe. My wife hated the smell but the flavor was wonderful! Z
