Well your hubby could do what I did to my wife. I took her shopping for her pipe(s). She selected the Meers she wanted. I help her with the tobacco selection. I try to keep her to Virginia's because she doesn't smoke that much and has a low nic tolerance.

I am originally from WV myself! Nice to "meet" you. Lol. I did work in a Vape shop for a while, and used to have a vape pen....so I do get the "don't inhale" deal. And I love to read, so probably most of my pipe smoking will be while reading. That is, if I can get my infant to play by himself long enough to let me! Lol. Thanks everyone. I do indeed feel welcome here. cool! wherebouts in WV are you from? i am usually sitting outside smoking my pipe (when I'm not at the smoking lounge, lol) and I am always reading. it pairs nicely! Greenbriar County!

Welcome to the Forum from Humble Texas! I would suggest that you start with 1Q. That's what I started with as a non smoker. If I had started with Carter Hall, I would have stopped. It's good now that my taste buds have adjusted.

It's good now that my taste buds have adjusted. Conversely, I find 1Q highly objectionable. If that had been my first tobacco, I might not have managed

Relax, put the tobacco in the pipe and smoke it. There is no wrong way! try lots of different tobaccos and enjoy them all

The advice of a couple of cobs is perfect. For a first tobacco I would suggest Granger. You can find it at most store that sell OTC 'baccys. It's a nice all Burley , cool even smoking and not really an aro. It's what i started with 50 years ago. Smoke pouch then try something else. Dont ping-pong from blend to blend as that will only get you more confused. And as has been said DON'T INHALE !

Welcome! Good to get some more ladies in the community. I reccomend getting a cob before you get a briar. They smoke really well and if you damage it nothing is lost. I'm sure you're husband will be able to help you with all the little details of smoking. Have a happy time smoking!

Welcome Hannah. I would imagine your husband would have all the information you would need if he is a pipe smoker.
Learn to barely sip on the pipe, slowly. Puff too fast or hard, you will get tongue burn.

Hello from NW PA.
Welcome to the patch!
You may not start off tasting everything you read in the review. Don't worry, I am getting more and more flavors as time goes by.
I find smoking slow works best for flavor. The large cloud of smoke can be cool to see, but for flavor the light and gentle puff works best, at least for me.
You will find your own right way to do things. Ask questions.

Ordered a gorgeous pipe. Purple stained Dublin with a silver acrylic bit. If I can figure out how to get a picture on here I'll post one once it gets here. Should be here by Saturday, Monday at the latest. Then the journey begins. ๐

If you like exploring, sampling and comparing, you might find yourself like Alice In Wonderland as you head down the rabbit hole. I myself started with a few pint jars of tobacco. Then I had three cases in two weeks. A month later I had twelve cases filled, labeled and organized and still growing. Like a wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing tube mam, I'm swinging wild!

Yes welcome, glad to see you here! Both my wife and I have been smoking since the early 1980s, and we are still enjoying it.
