It's in the original somewhat corroded tin.
Has anyone ever smoked tobacco this old? What did it taste like ?

Maybe anyone who has smoked one that old from a corroded tin isn't around to reply.

How does the tobacco smell?? Is it overly dry or a foul odor?

Has the tin been compromised at all? Do you hear anything if you shake it? Burley hold up pretty well; if it's dried out but not moldy you may be able to rehydrate it. I have smoked tobacco from the 1930's and neat experience only notable because of the age of the blend.

It's sealed. I've not opened it yet. Not even sure if I want to open it lol

I wouldn't get too excited about it taking you to nirvana land. Here is a post I mad awhile back, I rehydrated it to perfection, but it had lost a lot over the decades....in hindsight, I probably should have put it on Ebay and let the unicorn chasers have a field day. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/859/find-dayDepending on the blend, I would say that there is definitely a point of diminishing returns. Much past 20 years, I think that I would take a pass on smoking. I have smoked other tobacco's with a lot of age on it, but none of them have compared to the sub 20 year old stuff that I have smoked. Not sure why the two pics aren't showing in the first post...

Whenever tobacco is dry I just shove it in a mason jar and put one of those silver disc things with the absorbent rock thing inside. After about two days or so the tobacco is supple and moist - sometimes even to the point of needing to be dried out wee bit again.
I want an old empty edgeworth tin just to put some of my match in. Just because it would be fun to carry it around in that, since I smoke Sutliff Edgeworth so much anyway.

What trailboss said. Earlier this year as part of a review thread project on PSD, I had the opportunity to try 65-70 year-old Escudo and a few other obscure VA and Va/Per blends. The tins were sealed, but the contents had a distinct funk. It was fun to try them but out of 5 or 6 blends, only one or two were enjoyable - but far less so than a 5-10 year old SG or McClelland VA. That was pretty much the consensus of the other reviewers, too. pipesmokersdens.com/threads/cutter-top-heaven-community-reviews-the-main-event.1194/ I would expect SWR to fare even worse, being Burley which people say doesn't age well. On the other hand, possibly the best straight VA I've ever smoked was a 30-something year-old sample of Elephant & Castle Deerstalker. So the 20-year rule seems somewhat flexible depending on the specific blend, storage conditions etc.

This 2001 Frog Morton's On The Town I'm smoking right now is 18 years old and is fantastic. It has a distinctly different taste from the FM OTT from 2017

Burley has a much longer timeline than virginias, it doesn't change all that much from tinning to dust. Ive been smoking some half and half from the early 70s ,prepinkerton stuff, and you can taste the whole blend alright but the deer tongue and burley really stand out compared to the virginias.
