It is hard to believe that we are already approaching October, and on our way into the holiday season, the changing weather offers a respite from the heat, and much more likelihood of smoking outdoors. We received our Package from Sutliiff tobacco for the club to evaluate MacBaren Gold Block (2 tins..100 grams total), this will give the opportunity for some of us to stretch our legs and trot out of our typical non aromatic comfort zone and give a fair evaluation. Sutliff provided us with a well thought out evaluation sheet and enough packets of pipe cleaners for everyone. We hope to see you there!

Thanks, Charlie. Sutliff provided a well thought out questionnaire. Looking forward to trying this one.

Yo Dan, Charlie is bringing the smoke what about the munchies who bringing them Thank you for the question John. In respect to that I have put together a menu and will provide all the fixins...a full three course menu of southwestern Fare, that will cost the club nothing...the theme is Apache junction..what's your function? Well it functions as a repository for our roadkill grill. Tomahawk road toad...with the impending typhoon rains, these delicacies should come leaping into our clutches...well maybe tires. Highway javelina.. Bridgestone comes after Adolph's meat tenderizer in the dictionary, but it has better results. Fricaseed feral Cat, similar to culvert kitty's that they enjoy in the southeast. If you can arrange a dessert, that would round it all out.

We had a great October meeting, a few of our regular attendees could not make it due to the issues of life that come up, but our Facebook presence brought in a younger guy named Greg that was pretty cool by all accounts. George, is an ambassador and invited Terry to our group...he lives within a couple miles of my home...great to have a pipe smoking guy in the neighborhood! And Russ made a trek from the West valley, when he came in dressed in overalls, we knew he would fit in...he had pipe smoking codger written all over him. We sampled MacBaren's Gold Block courtesy of Sutliff tobacco company sponsoring our club, the blend was better than most of us thought it would be, and the percentages were generally in the 70-85% range of favorability from pipe smokers that generally do not smoke aromatics, it is certainly a blend that I wouldn't mind smoking again! We discussed our upcoming trip to the West Coast Pipe Show in Las Vegas next month, and are going to plan a Saturday night dinner get together in Vegas, and decide on a pipe club meeting in November since we typically meet the same weekend that the pipe show fell on this year. I swear, if Jupiter aligns with Mars, and everyone shows up in any month, we will have 20 or so people at a meeting, not bad from an initial meeting of 3 people!

Thanks to all who attended another wonderful Arizona Pipe Club (and, we missed you folks that could not attend)! Cheers to Charlie for arranging our blend testing! And, thanks again to Big Sticks in Mesa for hosting. See you in November!

The first photo should be labeled: "John shows off his new tamper."

Speaking of John...it is a good thing that Greg the bouncer kept him in check! John did send these pics...they have funky angles, because of John being a Marine, it wasn't an easy task for Greg to gain control of the situation. At our annual membership meeting, Pipe Club member SCFDan is the old coot...

Hmmmmm....not sure the Gold Block should be the gold standard. We a lot of fun rating it however. Hope we get the opportunity to rate more!
