With Halloween coming up at the end of the month , What are some of your favorite movies to watch at this time of the year ? I am truly not obsessed with Halloween but have a brother who is , I do enjoy great Slasher movies, as well as some of the Saw series of horror movies.

My Halloween tradition is "Dracula", the original. Failing that, the 1970s version with Frank Langella and Lawrence Olivier. The original is far creepier. No one does it like Bella. When he says, "The blood is the life, Mr. Harker", he means it!
His line, "I never dink....wine", is often parodied and overused but I still get a laugh with it, that is if my dinner companions are still alive.

I always remember Halloween 3 was one that freaked me out as a kid who shouldn't have been watching it.

The Thing. 1982 Masterpiece That is a good one. IMO, it is sufficiently different from the original that is stands on its own, not really a re-make. I still love the 1951 "The Thing From Another World". I was about 7 when I first watched it on TV. Scared the wits out of me. I would not go down to the basement of our house for about a year. In college, there was a film class we studied the movie to learn how to overlay dialogue to build tension. Then there was that Theremin music score. Best use of the Theremin ever.

I love horror / suspense movies. They get my blood pumping. My kids enjoy them as well. Things with demons, or inanimate possessions are more my "thing." The exorcist was a great one! I like the Annabelle movies as well. Theres a lot of others.
And as "lame" as people think they are, I've been a huge fan of Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street since I was a kid.

Never was one for demon/devil or slasher movies. Must be my Catholic upbringing. LOL! I prefer straightforward monster movies, creeping into the dark with all the cliches. Usually, there is a dose of radiation involved. "Rodan", "Them", or noxious Space Aliens- "Invaders From Mars". Here is a good one:

My favorite Halloween movies are:
Halloween (1978), Ghost Busters (1984), Young Frankenstein (1974), Ghost Busters 2 (1989), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Dracula (1931), The Exorcist (1973), Dawn of the Dead (2004), Thirty Days of Night (2007), and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
I absolutely have to watch the first two on Halloween.

The Universal monster movies in order And, if you can grab some of the older movies like West of Zanzibar and some of the lesser known monster movies... all very choice. Todd Browning was quite twisted.

Undying Monster, 1942 werewolf film, The Lodger, 1944 to mention a couple. I have a hep cat persona, just because I wear a zoot suit with a reet pleat with drape cape and a stuff cuff? Not to mention my nat gat... while listening to the Archies. Right
