I've got more money tied up in pipe luggage than most have in their collections. I'm a recovering road warrior (that sadly might be on the road again) and this (and a cigar bagador)UPB 8/16 is my go to bag. It's spent hundreds of nights with me working on the road for weeks on end. Even having spent the money on a Wess, I still can't quite justify a Smokin' Holsters. Goodness gracious are they fine looking equipment. Yours seems to have a feature not present in the photos on his web site. What are the draw-strings for? Pouches for bent pipes, perhaps?

Weekend or longer trips- I use a cheap fabric shaving kit from Amazon. I actually like the way it looks.
Fully loaded it has no issue accommodating a half dozen tins and as many pipes, if not more, plus cleaners etc. I keep the pipes in pipe bags so they don't rub on each other.
Day Trips- I carry a blend or two in my Stokkebye leather tabacco wallet and my tools, cleaners, and two pipes in a hard case I got from P&C.
While hunting or maybe going out to the bar etc, I just toss the tobacco wallet in my back pocket and throw a billiard or cob in my shirt or jacket pocket.
I love all the leather rolls you guys have though. Maybe for my birthday I'll splurge on a nice handmade brown leather roll.

I was hoping someone would be like Elwood Blues and carry their pipes around in a briefcase- handcuffed to their wrist. Hahahahaha

The Wess bag are nice, I have a 5 and 7. My UPB is one of his first with the Kangaroo stitching and they now have a really handy slip pocket that I really wish mine had. The leather was an end from Rawlings where they make the handmade mitts for the pro's. I'd like him to put a Rawlings R in the strap.
I look at it this way the bag fits my pipes better than others. I see a couple of pipes comfortably poking out that would cost three times what the bag cost to replace.
The drawstrings are matching leather sleeves that Neil makes. They are super soft and sized right. I just use them when I double up on the pipes. I missed seeing and visiting with Neil at The NY Pipe Convention a couple of weeks ago. I hope all is well. He's a real character especially with his Looung Island accent.

Most of these leathery, multi-pipe bags that are shown, look too much like a lady's clutch bag. Do you guys walk around holding onto these things or are they packed away in luggage? Seriously....they look like a real PITA to hold-in-hand, or, carry around...unless they are used to just "transport" your pipes and accessories to the next venue. This reminds me of the '70s Bob Newhart episode where Jerry gets a man-purse. I don't think any of these smaller pouches look like a lady's clutch purse. They're more like a shaving kit. Mine goes in my luggage (along with my shaving kit). I've never felt the need to walk around clutching it. In regard to the larger ones, I don't have a need for one, but to me they look like the courier bags that are popular these days. Besides, as long as they match your shoes and go with your outfit ...

Like a lot of posters in this thread, I use a purpose-made leather bag. This one is from Martin Wess. I find it more convenient than a pipe roll. It holds four rather large pipes, accessories, and optionally a tin (in the pocket) or tobacco pouch (in the loop) Very nice. I like the layout. Is there a pocket for tobacco, or does the band opposite the pipe hold a tin w/o damaging your pipes? Sorry if those questions have already been asked. I'm on my cell.

If I traveled for long periods or frequently attended pipe shows, I would definitely want one of these. Beautiful details. Do you have a photo of it closed? Is this about the size of a soft sided briefcase/computer case?

The pocket behind the band is for a tin. The pocket will protect your pipes from getting banged by the tin.
(You won't be able to fit a pouch AND a tin. Not unless your pipes are a lot smaller than mine.)

Gorgeous pipe roll. Now you've got me drooling over it. You're welcome! I might have to make that my Christmas present to myself this year...
