Succumbed to cancer. I considered him one of "the big four"... Bill Gates, Paul Allen (Microsoft), Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak (Apple). A computing pioneer, a sports team owner and a rabid Jimi Hendrix fan.
We wouldn't be enjoying this forum without the legacy of Paul Allen.
Godspeed.

I didn't know he was that into Hendrix. Although I am not too surprised, either.
You forgot Ken Thompson and the Jolitz siblings ;-)

I was expressing my sadness that Paul Allen passed away. If you want to cite all of the great computing pioneers, I respectfully and kindly suggest you start another thread.

I think that's a fair enough request, Dramatwist. Let's keep this on Paul. Sad to see another man down. I often forget how these people have been so influential in changing the way I live.

We tend to take the magic at our finger tips for granted. It wasn't all that long ago that communication at distance was more than limited. Now we have more computing power in our pockets than whole rooms full half a century ago. Mr. Allen (and the rest of the pioneers) has changed our lives forever. RIP and God's Speed.
