They are a combination of banned members, those who quit and accounts that had been inactive for five or more years.

I wish that tobaccoreviews had been a little more considerate when imposing the Emeritus Account stricture on those posts. If someone quits or was banned, I'd agree. But there should have been some allowances made in the creation of legacy accounts, such as Bob Runowski and others who have passed and have made significant contributions to that resource. I'd like to see their name when I'm reading what they wrote. Now I feel that the sadly lamented and departed have been erased from history. And, as Orwell would say, the erasure itself forgotten. Bad form, imo.

Maybe it is something that can be fixed in the future?

Maybe it is something that can be fixed in the future? Who knows? If they pulled a comprehensive switch that erased the names of the batch of inactive posters and slotted in the Emeritus by-line, then, unfortunately, I think not. Worth asking someone. One problem is anonymity. I don't even know if my good friend Dan Nathan (Mr. Moo), whom I knew personally for years, was ever a poster there under another name. And that's one possible example. I think they may have embarked upon this measure without really thinking it through. I've been a reviewer there under a single word handle, so no one will be the wiser when I too, as we all must, come to dust. Sad.

I would have thought that, regardless of the frequency of review, a review is still valid whether or not the person has or hasn't posted a review in a while. I'd like to think the review should still be credited to that person.

The thing about forums like this is that we're building what is essentially an archive of knowledge and opinions, which is a valuable thing, no matter who said what.

I think it wasn't TR's finest moment, to say the very least.

Dan only had a few posts, but he did have a few reviews at TR.

Neither do I. My point was that if he did under a pseudonym, like many do (including myself), we wouldn't have known. Unless he told us. He didn't tell me.

So am I. Right now I'm sitting, not standing, corrected. And he used his usual monicker, even.
