Again?! Something major must have happened at Germain's. Their production and distribution seems way up. In order to meet demand, Germain recently announced they’ve farmed out all production to Mac Baren and Kohlhase and Kopp. Their goal is to have all the blends readily available in the US by 2019.

Someone should do a poll asking if Post 2019 Germain will be anywhere near the same as the Germain Idols we have worshiped for so long. I predict much higher prices starting....... NOW! Anyone notice SP's new Sutliff price? As soon as it went off sale, right before payday, it jacked up to about a buck and a half higher than P&C, whom I assume will follow suit soon. Their sale on Admiral's Choice is last year's prices. I bring this up in the same thread because many other brands seem to be commanding more for 50 gram tins, which is what I figure will happen with Germain. If someone is selling 50 grams of a tobacco now for double the cost are we likely to see a price drop when it is sold in ubiquity?

You can expect Germain production to be the same as always. And so we wait.

I wouldn't pay $22 for a 2 oz tin of anything. Even McClellands. I just learn to love and appreciate whats still out there on the market.

It's an urban legend Krumble Kake is Penzance. I can't answer that one. Prices appear a little sharp but less than what I was able to sell that herd off for just a little while ago. I'd go for it if I really dug into it. Penzance was modeled after Krumble Kake. Originally Smokers Haven blends were made by Sobranie. When they closed the recipes were given to JF Germain. Smokers Haven changed owners in the early/mid 80s. Many Esoterica blends were modeled after the Smokers Haven blends. Premal brought them back about 20 years ago or so. Our Best Blend is an excellent English and was originally Sobranie White repackaged. The long gone blend Pure Pleasure was a burly based American English with Syrian latakia and was outstanding. The recipe dated back to either the 40s or 50s. I dont remember who originally made it but for a long time it was blended by House of Windsor. One of the best tasting blends I have ever had. Production changed to Cyprian latakia after the big C&D warehouse fire and it wasnt the same. Shortly after HOW shut down. Anyway, the blends available now are Sobranie recipes blended by JF Germain with a very long history and worth trying.

We are seeing a lot of history now with McClelland closing and the latest Dunhill blender ceasing.
