I know it's not Christmas time yet,but the Hallmark channel is already showing Christmas movies.Retailers love it.It gets folks in the mood to spend money.I love the holiday season for maybe an odd reason. It seems to me to be the time of the year more than any other when people come together and are nice to each other..When I watch these movies I think how great it would be if every one in the world treated each other the way folks in these movies do and do it all the time not just at Christmas time..With so much evil in the world it will never be that way.It would be great though if it was.

I agree and all we can do is do our best to be like that. I try to be nice and considerate person all of the time. It can be hard at times and some people may not deserve it. If nothing else comes of it at least I feel better. Smiling at people and holding a door open are just a couple of the little things that I do as often as possible. If everyone did that we would change the world.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. I love the session. Thankfully my wife does too.
My favourite Christmas movie has to be Elf. Apart from the usual ones I also like the Muppet Christmas Carol.

Thanks for bringing this up. Many Bad memories. Thanks. I'm not sure whether or not you're serious. Are you referring to memories of bad movies or is Christmas a particularly bad time for you?

"A Christmas Carol", Alistar Sim, 1951.
"Home Alone", primarily becuase of the kid and Christmas is about the wonder of kids. He is a lot like the way I was. Nowadays, I am more like Daniel Stern.
"Miracle on 34th Street". Again, because of the kid- Natalie. Of course, Maureen ain't bad. Also, Edmund Gwynn will forever be Santa Claus.
Yes, "It's a Wonderful Life", that tired saga of an overworked Savings & Loan Association Embezzler caught up in circumstances he cannot control while eluding the law. His guilt causes him to project an angel who represents his unconscious mind while caught in a web of deceit. The town's leading citizen, "Mr. Potter", attempts to teach him a lesson but he resists. Some comical results while the town attempts a lynching. Eventually, common sense and moral rectitude prevails and his wife takes him back.

Wow! 😂 That's about exactly how a robot would describe It's a Wonderful Life. 😂 For those wanting the movie described by a feeling human being, you may want to look somewhere other than the above post. 😂😂😂😂😂

Christmas - Holiday Inn and White Christmas (similar movies with Der Bingle). The Godfather special release saga blending all three films with additional footage. Scrooge 1935.
As important, my New Year Pics - How the West Was Won, Things to Come 1936, Once Upon a Time in America, Lost Horizon 1937, The Good Earth 1937 I think, and Metropolis
How the West Was Won used to depress me, until "I got it". It's pretty much a dust we came unto dust we'll go theme, but you have to see the "from dust we'll come again" and then it becomes a movie of hope.
On NYE one night I fell asleep at Things to Come started. It starts out pre-WW2 stuff and moves into modern and post modern sets. I would wake up every few minutes, thinking it was hours. I'd look at the TV and the movie kept advancing in time. Thought the movie went on forever, and it seemed like the Holiday Spirits managed to show me all things in the course of a night. Woke up, threw a quarter at some kid in the street and told him to bring me the biggest turkey he could find. He looked at my car and said, "You already own it, and scampered off with my two bits."

The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. I love his character, and only Cary could pull it off. The remake is just bad.

In high school I did a reading for public speaking class, of a story by James Thurber. I thought it was hilarious, but it just fell flat. It was my presentation. Without face to face communication, things really need to be evaluated by a different standard. I realized your humor, but I know you. Judging by all the smilies, Blackmouth got it and replied accordingly. 🎃

Sometimes I forget they are long dead and past.

I was reciprocating with my own style of humor. Glad you at least got it. I mean, I did use SEVEN ( SEVEN!) laughing emoji's for goodness sake. I guess SEVEN laughing emoji's isn't enough of a clue to some people. I wonder if eight would have done it? Nine? Maybe an even TEN?

If I have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" one more time I'm going to throw myself out the window. Ok, it's a single story home but there are cacti out there!
Musicals aren't my thing, but I've always appreciated "White Christmas."
And, despite what Bruce Willis has to say, "Die Hard" is the ultimate Christmas movie. He's only and actor, not a writer, what does he know? Time of year, broken family reunited, hero overcomes adversity with a bit of 9mm Beretta & HK Christmas charm - yeah, "Die Hard" is the best Christmas movie ever. I can hear angles getting there wings as I type this.

Apart from the usual ones I also like the Muppet Christmas Carol. Me too.. As a kid, I remember looking through the Sears Catalog looking at the stuff and hoping that Santa would be generous to a kid that probably deserved a lump of coal...smelling the pages of that catalog was pretty heady stuff for a young kid. Watching Santa arrive on a Tank when we lived on base in Germany in the 60's....and they had reindeer out there...even Rudolph with a red nose! As a parent and grandfather, I really like the significance of the season and what it represents, and it is a special time with the family...all the cell phones go into a lock box when we get together...we make candied apples and popcorn balls with the grandkids...and we watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas"...I really like the back story on that one...when CBS bigwigs found out that the book of Luke was read in the script, they freaked out, but live television being what it is, they had to run with it and they were rewarded with gangbuster ratings, and it is a perennial favorite.

Hallmark really needs to figure out what life will be like post Lacy Chabert. Will it be Candace Cameron or Ashley Williams or Shannon Elizabeth? I worry.
