Judging by all the smilies, Blackmouth got it and replied accordingly. 🎃 You got it Ron. I didn't take the text I quoted seriously. And I didn't mean my post to be taken seriously either. I was reciprocating with my own style of humor. Glad you at least got it. I mean, I did use SEVEN ( SEVEN!) laughing emoji's for goodness sake. I guess SEVEN laughing emoji's isn't enough of a clue to some people. I wonder if eight would have done it? Nine? Maybe an even TEN? My mistake, then. Cannot see the emojis clearly with my bad eye. Thought they were crying. Sorry for any misunderstanding. My post was meant as ironic humor as was your response.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. I start pretty damn early, though none of my friends give me grief about it because they know how important it is to me.
As far as movies go, all the classics mentioned are high up on the list. I actually watched the Bishops Wife the other night. Anything Bing Crosby is my go-to for the season though.

Well, it's important to note that we go back to Buffalo for all our holidays, so Thanksgiving, we head back and spend almost a week there. Why that is relevant is that we have our annual Christmas party the week right after Thanksgiving. So, instead of trying to rush to get the house decorated in time, we typically decorate the week before Thanksgiving. This year, because of business travel, it might actually have to be the week before that, lol.
So, pretty early.

That's about the same for us, but we don't have thanksgiving as an excuse. Normally we put our tree up in the middle Friday or Saturday in November. Tree comes down the day after boxing day though.

Phew... glad I'm not the only one.
We break everything down the week after New Year usually. My Mom always did it New Years Eve... said she had to start the year off fresh, lol.

We used to decorate the tree on Christmas Eve, leaving it up until New Years Day. It was a fun ceremony punctuated by drinks, visits and good cheer.
Now it is a humbug spent alone. Sniff.... That happens to many of us, eventually.

Buffalo. When I think about it, (aside from the Anchor Bar), I think of the scene in a Burt Reynolds movie where he is traveling to Buffalo on a train. The cold in the scene was so intense that you could feel it in Houston. Party On.

Putting up the tree in our house is instigated by our grown son who still lives with us. Without him we wouldn't bother. The greater family usually meets for the holidays at my niece's small ranch about 70 miles from Houston. At 68 with no grandkids it is just not fun anymore.

It was never in the running for any cinematic awards. But I absolutely agree with your choice. It is an awesome Christmas movie. The type horror in this one is tame enough for many younger family members but entertaining enough to keep the adults happy too.

A Charlie Brown Christmas. I love everything about it. The music is wonderful. More of Vince Guaraldi? His trio used to be regular at a restaurant/bar in a town I once lived in- Sausalito. Many nights listening.

Many nights listening. That makes sense since Charles Schulz lived in nearby Santa Rosa... Sausalito is beautiful, and crazy expensive... but then it has always been that way since I first went there in 1980 or so.

The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. I love his character, and only Cary could pull it off. The remake is just bad. I agree. I really like the original and dislike the remake. I understand that originally, David Niven was going to be the angel and Cary Grant the bishop. I don't recall exactly why they switched roles.

That is not too early at all. We usually spend the day after Thanksgiving decorating. Just a tradition. We typically put up our outdoor lights the day after Thanksgiving and get our tree the first weekend of December. We take the tree down after New Years Day, but leave the outdoor lights up through the Epiphany.

By 1980, gentrification was well underway. There were still some Blue Collar families living there and of course Hippies on boats- Gates 5 & 6, LOL! I was referring to the late 1960s when it was still a fishing village with boat building yards. There were plenty of rich people on the hillside but working people were all around. It was a nice eccentric community back then.

Okay, I'm going to cast my vote for Krampus, too. It's a nice change of pace when you feel the Christmas walls closing in on you.
Another good Christmas horror movie is "Better Watch Out".
One of my newer favorites is "The Man Who Invented Christmas". If you haven't seen this one, put it on your list.
And I also like "Love Actually", "Elf", and a few others.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Man Who Invented Christmas. Great family holiday movie. On the subject of family holiday movies, here are 2 great ANIMATED ones: A Christmas Carol, 2009 version with Jim Carrey as Scrooge. The Polar Express, 2004 movie featuring Tom Hanks.

I almost moved there in the mid '90s. I like the place. I really liked it in 1970. I have been told that I wouldn't like it now. Fresno has grown greatly since them. The house I almost bought was built in 1919 by a Veteran who returned home from France. It was a Norman style two-story double wall brick house with a spire. Located in the old part of town with many trees. It had been a Speakeasy during prohibition. There was a grapevine arbor garden. It was wonderful. Often think of the old place and the nice elderly couple who owned it and so wanted me to buy it. How different my life might have been if I ended up in Fresno.
