Unfortunately, it'll get worse over the next couple of months. I understand Nov/Dec are the worst months for this...for obvious reasons.
It's both sad and infuriating.

The store reps will not only receive the packages, but sign for them if needed. Maybe too expensive an option for some. But then again, sometimes you can't put a price on peace of mind.

Usually there's someone home at my house. The UPS truck makes enough noise that who ever is home knows he's here.

I had many issues receiving packages at my son’s home. Since I have all of my packages delivered to my daughter’s now in the past three years I’ve had no missing packages. If I purchase an item online I request the package must be signed for, not left in a mailbox or front porch.

I thought you were talking about tomorrow nights kids. 🎃 The Ring doorbell gets a video endorsement nightly in Houston with videos of people stealing from porches. Y'all have probably seen the two viral videos from Houston recently. On one a woman in distress was banging on doors, on the other a woman drops a toddler on a strangers porch and runs away. Criminals are always one step ahead of technology.

I have a PO box for pipe deliveries for just this reason. There was a guy in my town earlier this year that was basically just following the mail truck along its route and picking up packages right after they were dropped off. Cretin. I just couldn't take the risk with a package that might have to sit in the box or on the porch for a few hours. I feel much more secure knowing that the package will just wait for me at the office until I can pick it up.
Of course, UPS and Fedex won't deliver to a PO box. I have to arrange to pick those up instead. A small inconvenience and one that I rarely encounter anyway. So, it's no big deal.

We have a small neighborhood with one entrance. I am home most of the time and if I see a strange car around delivery time, I will be seen taking a stroll down driveway with an AR slung on my shoulder. The one I use in public is a pellet rifle, but it's backed up by the real thing.

I'm usually home and I make note of when a package is coming...have had tobacco disappear from my mail box before..it's a pisser. Now that I'm retired, I can watch for stuff that comes...have an arrangement with a neighbor, too, we accept packages for each other. Nothing missing since we got together.

We have motion activated cameras on all our doors. The front door camera is entertaining. Some delivery folks handle packages better than others. We've never had a problem with packages being stolen, but we occasionally catch a cat walking up to our front door. A skunk has visited twice. The first time I had to run the video in stop action to figure out what sort of varmint it was; mostly all I saw was fluffy tail. The most intriguing is when a wasp flies right up to the camera, they look very large.

You folks are lucky.
UPS and Fed Ex can never find my place for delivery. Mostly, they cannot find anyone else, either. They just drive around until they run out of gas. We find the trucks on the road side and the driver's bones bleaching in the sun. "Ghost Drivers" we call them. Seriously, they are mostly unable to find addresses since they do not have enough sense to read a map. So, they leave packages at the gas station.

I live on a red clay dead end road. The 5 houses that are on it are family. Theres not too many outsiders that come down here. If a thief is caught, dead end would likely have a new meaning.
I cant stand a thief. They are amonst the lowest of low.

The most intriguing is when a wasp flies right up to the camera, they look very large. We have a video security system as well. I usually have the display open on one of the screens while I'm working at the desk if nothing else is taking precedence. At night, the infrared is active turning the image to black and white and giving the highlights a sort of glowing aura. When the spiders come to roost in the fall, watching the display can kind of be like watching one of those giant, radioactive monster flicks from the '50s.

I can do you one better than mere porch piracy.
I live in a building with three apartments. USPS has a key to the locked foyer to drop off packages. Fedex will often ring all three doorbells in order to do the same.
Recently, someone used my stolen credit card number to place orders on Sears.com, and had them delivered to my address via Fedex. And then whoever works my Fedex route intercepted them, in order to receive the stolen goods. I actually saw at least one of the parcels with my own two eyes, before it mysteriously disappeared from the same foyer in which it mysteriously appeared.
Quite a fancy scam, if you ask me.
My credit card company was very unhappy to learn that fraudulent purchases were "delivered" to a valid address.

...since I'm at the apartment most of the time, it hasn't ever been an issue... additionally, our complex installed huge individual locked mailboxes recently, so... another layer of protection...

Never had an issue where I live.
My neighbor is an FFL though, Fedex delivered 8 AR-15's with orange emblazoned signage, saying that they were from Bushmaster and that signature was required...My neighbor was in Chicago, texted me, it took me 12 hours to get them off his porch, I was up in Monument Valley that day delivering the res....
That driver should have been fired.

To hear an honest dismay of our fellow man is refreshing. Unfortunately, it's not a new thing. I am rather ashamed to say that not all of us lived up to that ideal, in my case having no regard for the law. That I came to realize it at some point (I don't really know a defining moment) I guess stands for something. No matter how good some of us are or have become, it does not negate things or erase them from one's mind. Like a Scarlet Letter it burns in one's mind whenever one runs across someone honest or sincere. Years ago I was just doing what anyone else did (or so I thought). Now it's I can't believe I did what others did.

I am not totally innocent either and made many mistakes when I was young but at some point I definatly grew up or matured enough to see right from wrong. It's the fact that we do see that Scarlett letter scar that makes us different from those that never do and continue down that path.

The line was, are you down with OPP, ya you know me...Other People's Property.

Also copies can be made so at this point all locks should be replaced.

Late to the party here. Thankfully I've not heard of this happening much around where I live. I've had many a package sitting on my doorstep and never has one been stolen...yet.
In some areas of Northern Ireland, however, the paramilitaries are still in action and they clamp down on any of that stuff. Anyone caught stealing from a doorstep or causing trouble in the neighbourhood is in for a punishment beating (usually they got knee-capped). That's not happening as much these days, but it still does happen from time to time in some areas.
Ironically, those areas are safe as houses in some ways. No porch pirates anyway.

It was a ridiculous song that was overplayed on mtv after it had become rap mtv.

I recall some of those guys from my stay in '72. The house I was staying at in Ennis belonged to the County Clare head of the Provos. I was instructed to enter and exit by the BACK door only and be watchful on the street. Frozen Francis "Francy" O'Halleren was his name as I recall. He was not around much.
