G'Day'All, do you ever have one of those days when you are not in harmony with the "spirit" of the pipe, the tobacco or the lighter. No pipe will stay lit when they normally smoke like a dream, the tobacco note and taste is more like dung than heavens weed & the flame of the lighter is unlightable or uncontrollable. An off day is infrequent rather than regular, thank the gods of the briar. It is another day tomorrow, GW. Happy piping folks.

Last smoke of the day is Angler's Dream in a slight bend 1984 Stanwell Antique 124 grain etched with a smooth front with a black vulcanite stem. Just fed Suzy. Tried to feed Molly, but she's finicky tonight, so she'll be happy enough with dry food, which she prefers to wet anyway. Suzy is the opposite. I know it's almost their play time, so I'm gathering up toys for them to play with.

G'mornin'folks, A Bright blue sunny morning, though still a bit 'muggy" & "stuffy" , I have walked Pop, chatting to a local friendly lady resident & greeting some neighbours. I have fed Pop & had breakfast cereal with some cool fruit juice this morning. Started the smoking day with a Royal Dutch blue mini cigar in the meer holder. The score so far :- a few puffs on the guest Kong ebony horn pipe of HU E breakfast ( with a Dr. Plumb 9mm filter), a few puffs on the guest MM Maple Country Gent with a straight Amber stem of HU G Dixter ( with a Falcon filter ) , followed by a few puffs of today's BritBriar the Hardcastle Jockey Club with the quarter bent black stem with a "knob" on, of G 1820, (unfiltered). Now I have a bowl of G Plum Cake mix in a guest Kong pipe a nice white exotically shaped bowl with a fine blue porcelain like smokey design, a wide silvery band & solid black half bent stem ( a Dr. Plumb 9mm filter) . I prefer filters either regular "fit" in ,Dr Plumb or Savinelli balsa or Falcon types, or silver screen & carbon granule in the bowl filters, I do not know what others practice in regards to filters, but I suppose most people prefer their own ways that they are used to. Bye'All.

Right there Stan: To each his own. I am not partial to filters...even preferring to smoke the few filter pipes I have sans filter.
Choking, spluttering on some instant coffee whilst swearing and cursing all First World democracies on this side, having just read about Glynn's imminent closing shop. What the f is the world coming to? There goes another dream.
Looks like I'll have to get used to this Sturk's Nutty Unscented in a cob that I'm smoking now...left over instant coffee on the side.
A luta continua, good gents.

I wonder if the Glynn you refer to is a tobacconist on this side of the pond ? I am back in harmony with the Briar "gods " today it seems , I enjoyed a bowl of G Plum Cake, & a Royal Albert cup of char & a few rich tea biscuits, also a few puffs of pipes from my pockets . Enjoy your smokes folks. PS I feel like taking a hammer to this IPad it is completely flaky recently !!!

A luta continua, good gents. PS I read Glynn's notice of closure, & felt devastated by what he said. I had for a few years, (in my over 3 decades of bread & butter pipe smoking ) started pipe smoking herbal smoking mixes, such as Farmers Honeyblend & Earth Impact, which were non tobacco mixes sold as a "safe" alternative to tobacco, (& drugs), I liked them because they sold for about £5 for 50g compared to about £12 for 50g of tobacco , then recently the taxman, decided to tax them & they went up to about £20, so I took up pipe smoking as a hobby & returned to the briar & tobacco & the pipe community online. But the way it is going it looks like I will have to eventually return to non tobacco smoking mixes to supplement some occassional tobacco "treat". Dried herbs such as the foundation herbs mullein & marshmallow are still readily available online, generally, but I have read of plans to control, herbal medicines etc, from big Pharma. Bad news on this side of the pond gentlemen.
