There is an online seller that is a household name...before the Chicago pipe show he had a 7 day set of unknown manufacture made for a department store long ago closed...a really nice set of briars! He said on his webpage for various reasons he would not be attending the Chicago show due to family problems....he said that he would be home. Although there was phone number, I chose not to call since the family problems expressed were pressing. After about five emails unanswered and while the 7 day set showed available, I decided to call..."Sorry but I just sold the set" he seemed profusely in regret...said he never received any of my emails, even though I have never had another person say that in 15 years of having the same email.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Months later, I saw that he had multiple tiered pipe pipe racks that was exactly what i was looking for....I asked if I prepaid and he was driving, would he bring them to the West Coast Pipe Show? His reply was that he had just got a local buyer that was coming to pick them up.
I clicked on his webpage today...lo and behold the same pipe racks were there... asked that if I prepaid (depending on the price) and he was driving if they were available...he responded telling me that no he was not driving, but he decided to keep them for himself...never mind the fact that i have family living near him that could have picked them up, and shipped them if his response was different.
Not losing sleep over it, but I will never spend a dime with the guy.
