You have heard it before, but it can't be stressed enough...always be watching for people who don't see you when they are changing lanes...also keep looking at the road right in front of you..sand and oil are your biggest dangers. (besides idiot drivers who aren't paying attention to a motorcycle...a good loud horn on your bike is essential). Believe me, I take all advice given very seriously. I will keep this in mind.

My wife and I just sold our Roadglides. You are making me regret that decision! I used to put 12k-14k a year on my bikes in Texas. You have a great looking bike, and blue is my favorite color. Ed, your bike is awesome, too.

Congrats ... she's a beaut! Mine is a 2006 Goldwing 1800 and I'm a daily / all-year rider. Thanks and ya I just need to get some cold weather gear. The ride in to work this morning let me know that it's time to pull out the heavier gloves, at least. Pretty soon it will be the jacket liner and snow pants!

I thought my two-wheeled days were behind me, but now I'm seriously second guessing myself.

Good advice. I rode for three years until a minivan pulled out right in front of me in broad daylight. Was wearing a full helmet and didnt get hurt too bad but was enough for me. Ride safe and have fun!

This for sure and remember, EVERY cage (car) driver including your family wants to run you over and kill you.' Remember this and you'll stay rubber side down . I say this with over 40 years of riding scooters. I still have my '67 FL Duo-Glide I got when I returned from 'Nam and I've ridden with this attitude since and it's worked well for me. Enjoy your scooter it's a fine looking ride !

I'd consider getting a ride, but my wife would kill me and frankly at 75 I'm too old to heal well, particularly bones. So, I guess no scooter for me.

Very cool and sweet looking bikes. When they were still making the Valkarie, they won every motorcycle magazine comparison they ran. They tested them against sports bikes, touring bikes, cruisers and more. Then there was the Valkarie Rune. Nothing like it ever.

Pretty soon it will be the jacket liner and snow pants! They have some hand shields that look great for keeping the wind off your hands, which would be great with the heated grips. But they want $160 for them. I would get a pair if they were $75.

The pair I had were from Baker Built and they worked nicely ... could turn them out of the way when warm too. They were closer to your desired price range and I've used this site several times with good results: wingstuff.com/products/1051-adjustable-hand-wings-for-gl1800

What I was talking about is a cup that makes a shield for the hands on the wing. It's kind of like the hand protectors they put on dirt bikes. It makes a cup around the hand.

Well, yeah ... those are sweet but, like you said, the price reflects that. I am thinking about getting them anyway if we start riding more. It's not like it would be the most expensive thing on the trike.

Part of the beauty of riding along the backroads was not just the sense of openness, but the sense of balance and wonder that came from two wheels vs the stability of four. Don't understand yet where three wheels fits into the mix.
