The man is coming to Edwards pipe shop in Englewood, Colorado this December 1st. I plan on going to this event. Should be a lot of fun.

Peter passed away years ago. He was a lot of fun at presentations that ended with him drawing for one of his signature high grade Danish pipes and a toast with some horrible tasting Danish liquor. Eric is carrying on with his own 4th Generation line of Pipes, Tobaccos and accessories. He is very quiet and reserved but like his father very knowledgeable. I had some questions for him in Vegas that he helped me with and he signed a Tin "adverting sign" he was gifting at the show. I imagine that's the premium he'll have at your event along with a drawing for a 4th Generation Pipe.

After re-reading the flyer, it just says "A Pipe Show with Peter Stokkebye". Hmmm? I guess it would just be factory rep with a bunch of tins and bulk, since Peter has long since passed, and I doubt Erik Stokkebye could be coming to the shop.

I may not bother going. I try to hit Edwards once a month and buy a few things. I just did that Monday, so I am good. Oh well. What I really need to do is decide on a pipe show to attend next year and make it happen.

What a weird way to title an event in light of Peter having passed on.

What a weird way to title an event in light of Peter having passed on. I know. Kind of made me think he was still around. I knew a Stokkebye still ran things and didn't stop to think it might not be Peter Stokkebye. Kind of irritates me now. I will give them a pass on it, since they are such a great shop otherwise. People often put things in print or email that get misinterpreted.

Peter Stokkebye with always be synonyms with the brand even though he has passed. I am guilty of referring the Generation blends as PS but not out of disrespect.

On the positive side, maybe the pipe shop is going to conduct a "séance." There will probably be a holding of hands by those pipers attending, a lowering of lights with candles lit, and a medium bringing the spirit of Peter forth to answer questions. Could well be an interesting event indeed

The majority of pipers who would be interested in such an event know Peter has passed. Thus, they'd also know the reference on the flier is to the brand.
Unlike Dunhill, whose products are stamped and marketed solely by the last name, the products by Peter Stokkebye, the brand, are still promoted using the full name of the original owner.
So, IMO, a flier reading "A Pipe Show with Alfred Dunhill" would be wrong. A flier reading "A Pipe Show with Peter Stokkebye" is not.

I guess so, but for me, it is not like knowing whether or not someone like Sixten Iversson or Preben Holm is still around. I guess I am more aware of the carver's and pipemakers rather than the blenders. I couldn't tell you if there is a Kolhouse or Germain still at the helm, let alone their first name.

I think a lot has to do with how their products are marketed and stamped. I don't use the full name when referring to Peter Stokkebye products. I just call them Stokkebye. But, I can see where Edward's would want to use the full brand name as it's officially licensed for their flier.

I'd bet it is a Eric Stokkebye 4th Generation event that was mislabeled. Eric is a road warrior who does a lot of trunk shows across the country promoting his brand. I haven't seen a Peter Stokkebye event since he died. The brand was complicated to me as back then Lane Ltd had some of the blends and Stokkebye USA had the Luxury boxed blends. That's what I was asking Eric about in Vegas.

I talked to Clive Dunhill, believe it or not Alfred Dunhill is still alive...he lives in the south of France, got tired of paying alimony.

The Stokkebye 4th Generation rollup tobacco pouch is one of my pride and joys. I've always wanted a brown rollup similar to my mentor from back in the 60's. Kirk is long gone, but his memory is still with me as is the pipes he suggested I buy.
