I had it pretty bad years ago. In my case it was stress induced. Quit that job and got off Nexum. Soda + stress will kick it back up. So stopped soda. Recently I discovered I have become lactose intolerant. Friend of mine wanted to try an experiment and gave me fermented vegetables (2% salt solution). If I drink the solution I am not lactose intolerant for 6 days. The science behind it is promoting good gut bacteria. Scientific community has only recently been performing studies but it is looking like healthy gut bacteria can do more then just digestive health benefits.

I have had heartburn and now especially acid reflux constantly for years now. I take a Nexium every morning which keeps the heartburn away but if I eat anything after 7 pm I will have acid reflux in the middle of the night. I really need to go get checked out and scoped or whatever. I have been putting it off but it is to the point where I worry very much about esophageal cancer.

@legend Lover, yeah the antibiotic/Prilosec treatment is pretty rough, but sure beats the alternative of living with it and getting gastritis.... Strange how so many people can live with h. pylori for so long and never have any symptoms, then suddenly it kicks in.

I have gastric reflux from a hiatal hernia. It's either surgery or Nexium. I have been taking the Nexium for 15 years now and I have not had any problems. Before, out of the blue my throat would close up like someone had reached in and squeezed it. The pain was terrible.
