MacBaren sent us Amphora Virginia to sample at the pipe club meeting, if Paul has a pipe night I don't see why we cant bring it to that meeting also.

I'm looking forward attending the meeting and possibly the pipe night event. I didn't bring a meerschaum pipe but I hope you will let me in with my plastic shopping sack of Dr Grabow's. I'll see if I can interest the snowbird that you met last winter and a couple of locals collectors I know. One guy who expressed an interest was someone I met through another club I belong to but lost track of him almost 20 years ago. He was at the Vegas show for the first time and recognized me. It took a couple of minutes for me to remember but we a great visit. I hope he can make it.

Well, a quick breakfast in Scottsdale with friends turned into an all day journey in Scottsdale. So, I missed the Saturday meeting, but, in return, my bride agreed to take over airport duty on the 19th, so I should, God willing, make pipe night at Big Sticks.
Really sorry to miss the display of Meers, so I'm looking forward to some good pics! I'm sure it was a splendid, smokey time.

Well David, we missed your presence but familial duties take front and center for the responsible piper and the gentlemanly image that we profess! We look forward to seeing you on the 19th. We had a few new attendees one just happened to be in the store and did not know about our group. Kayla, the bride of John R made it special as she gifted us all pipe club ornaments...it really is nice to have a woman's touch in our group, and she is always a blessing to converse and have a pipe with. I really dropped the ball on taking pictures of the Meers, John finished his Sherlock series with his addition of the Hounds of Baskerville pipe, and his old figurals that he recently and not so recently acquired are pretty awesome...very cool. Gary had some magnificently carved Meers with detail that was quite stunning.... The Amphora Virginia donated by MacBaren really hit the mark with the attendees, and received good reviews, we really appreciate their support of our group. We drew cards for giveaways, one person got a pouch of the MacBaren, one received a nice Decatur book to log their personal reviews, and one received a tin of C&D King cake cellar series tobacco. 15 in attendance, we are seeing consistent growth with quite a diverse group of individuals that bodes well for the future, and a real benefit for the host that provides us with a great venue, and an attentive staff...the Guiness on tap, (along with other craft beers) provided great libations. I found out as I left, that DaveinLAX picked up the tab for my beers, thank you Dave...next time it is on me. Gary gifted a tin of Bengal Slices and gave me some cigars that I did not look at closely when he gave me, but am excited to put fire to them Hoyo De Monterey Dark Sumatra' s. SCFDan offered Peter Stokkebye 4th generation tobacco that was phenomenal And Chris brought along 1994 Christmas Cheer that lifted the spirits And we have a pipe night scheduled before Christmas!

It was a good afternoon spent with friends, enjoying good conversations, with good smokes to top it all off.
Maybe next time pics of the meers can be posted. There were several there. Now my small gathering of Sherlock Holmes themed pipes are complete. I now have Mr. Holmes, Dr. Watson and the Hound of Baskerville.

Sounds like a great time, and congratulations, John, on completing you Holmes collection - but where is Moriarty? ;-) We have a very eclectic Christmas tree here in the Drifting household, so I'm so sorry I missed Kayla's contribution. Someone please pass on the word that I would gladly pay her for her time and materials to make another such ornament, though I'm not sure I deserve it as I missed the December meeting. So happy to have something like this in my area - ya'all are great even if I couldn't make it. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks to John for bringing his many meers, Charlie for working so hard at logistics, and everyone for a wonderful Pipe Club while we watched an engaging Army/Navy game. Cheers to the staff of Big Sticks in Mesa, as always, for hosting. And, thanks to all the attendees for their generosity, congeniality, and warm spirits. Truly, this pipe club represents the finer attributes of gentlemen and gentlewomen in the pipe community. And, Kayla, those pipe club ornaments are wonderful!

I had another great time at the meeting. The ornament, generous tobacco samples and fellowship make for a fun afternoon! Thanks to The Trail Boss, John R and all the members for welcoming me.
