There was a person, several years ago, who was driving her gigantic RV. She put it into cruise control and went back to make a sandwich. Ahhhhhhhhh. I heard about that too. |

As far as I know the cruise control in the RV story with a sandwich is fake. It was started as an urban legend or a joke sometime in the 70s when cruise control first came about. It's continued to thrive since then and has had various incarnations. Granted by now someone might have actually done it but I've never seen anything to prove that it was real.
Now there was a guy "driving" a Tesla and had that auto drive system on while sleeping. Once Elon Musk found out about this he made changes to the system.
But as it is with all technology, it can do a lot of good but there will always be morons.

Could well be an urban legend. Sounds like it. On the other hand it is hard to underestimate the stupidity of some folks. |

The biggest problem I see for motorists is texting while driving.... it has gotten really out of hand. Quite often, texting drivers are on par with someone that is drunk driving with the way they operate their vehicles.
I see it daily, and weekly it seems I have a close call.

 Yep, when I cut my grass I have on my farm a very long frontage on a farm road, while cutting mowing against traffic I watch very carefully and sometimes I’m almost clipped by men and women gazing at their phone, I have quit cutting between 7 and 9 that’s when these people are going to work. It used to be women putting on their makeup, now it’s both genders with the phone.

Yep, when I cut my grass I have on my farm a very long frontage on a farm road, while cutting mowing against traffic I watch very carefully and sometimes I’m almost clipped by men and women gazing at their phone, I have quit cutting between 7 and 9 that’s when these people are going to work.
