Hello Briar patch,
I just wanted to take a second to introduce myself, my name is John I'm a 31 year old Husband and father of 2 little kids. We live just outside of Philadelphia in a populated suburb where pipe smokers are few and far between. Im sure like many of you guys on here I grew up around pipe smokers, my father and grandfather smoked pipes and cigars so from a young age I had an appreciation or better yet a fascination with pipes. I started smoking a pipe on a daily basis back in 2011, right around the time the youtube pipe community started to come into its own. I was able to learn a lot from youtube in those early days especially how to combat tongue bite and I worked through all the beginner mistakes that one may have learned hanging around there local pipe shop back when nearly every adult male smoked a pipe. I've never really been a "member" of a forum and this seems like another great resource to learn and talk about this hobby that we all hold in such high regard, so here I'am. Sorry for the long winded introduction but I thought I should give some background on myself before I started posting and commenting.

John, Great to have you. Welcome.
We have a great group of guys here. Bit slow right now because of the Summer doldrums, but it should pick up again as the weather gets cooler. Jump in and join in the fun.
Also, we have a chat room that is pretty active. You will see the link up in the navigation bar. Usually picks up around 9-9:30 PM or so. Stop in and say hi.

Welcome aboard. There are2 very active pipe clubs in the area. The Moreley's Pipe Club meets in downtown Philly once a month and the Lehigh Valley Pipe Club meets every 4th Monday in Bethlehem. Quite a few Philly guys come to that as well. Please feel to drop in at either or both. Great folks, good smokes and always a lot of laughs. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Wow thanks everyone for the warm welcome and thanks Les and John for the pipe club information. I would love to be a part of that monthly gathering, especially the Philadelphia club. I look forward to talking with all of you guys on here and in person.
