This kind of stuff makes me twitch and start thinking about which blends to start ordering 5 lbs at a time. Of course I could just buy bulk and make my own ropes in the event of a full blown tobaccoplyse. Land of the free my arse . . .

When you are told to cellar deep...you can then (if you do it) not have to worry about these announcements regardless of what state you live in...cause it will happen in all states...just sayin'....

As long as the populace is willing to put up with the nonsense, the people they elect will be more than happy to lift the chains around the necks of their sinful brothers....all the meanwhile, they are having chains put lightly around their own necks.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

I dont have a history of smoking, let alone pipe smoking in my family. I also dont have a child but I might one day. If I do, and things keep going as they are, there will not be a shared love of the pipe lifestyle. Well, there could be but I'll be telling stories of how it used to be.

If things get that bad I guess its a better option than buying tobacco from a street corner. Alcohol and marijuana can be sold in stores but tobacco is the devil.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure,” Jefferson wrote in a letter to William S. Smith, a diplomatic official in London, on November 13, 1787.

California Legislators Announce Bill to Ban Playing Outside, Crossing the Street, Being Mean, and Canned Whipped Cream.
Children may get hurt when outside of their domicile, they have feelings, and whipped cream is a gateway drug.

It's not that much of an exaggeration anymore, sadly.

Smoking is not popular and would be snuffed out in a popular vote. There is a reason so many guys are stuck sitting in a garage at best. I'd be more concerned with your employer going nicotine free, your insurance provider pricing you out or your wife than cherry bomb loose cut and bubblegum vape.

coddling madness. Aren't the lighters and matches technically more dangerous than the tobacco? Just saying... Should I smoke a bowl of tobacco or have a cell phone on or near my head all day. Where is the line?
Yea this is way more important than the homelessness issue or meth epidemic in the country. That flavored tobacco is really a burden on the future.

I just heard yesterday that California legislators are pushing for a tax on texting.
The way I feel about it is go ahead... keep going until you find the breaking point.

Don't Pray, Join the CRA.
I couldn't agree more, Dave. I joined the Cigar Rights of America (CRA) earlier this year. I encourage everyone else here to do the same. The CRA and the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers (IPCPR) (which isn't open to individuals, just retailers) are the only ones fighting the FDA's overreach.

I remember when there was a charge of 10p for texts and I got 30 free messages per month. I'm glad those charges stopped - the contracts are expensive enough. But they say there are only 2 certainties in life - death and taxes.

Nah. It's a few meatheads at the PUC. Not in the House, and not "California" as an entity.
The retroactive part I didn't see, but that has to be illegal, if not immoral, impractical and effin' stupid.

The retroactive part I didn't see, but that has to be illegal, if not immoral, impractical and effin' stupid. “With one ruling in 1798, the Supreme Court succeeded in muddling the issue of ex post facto laws by holding that the prohibition of retroactive laws applies only to criminal, not civil, laws. ... A necessary condition for the law to be known and certain is a prohibition on ex post facto laws.” Sad, but it is what it is.

Yes, but that ruling doesn't mean this specific potential ruling by the PUC would or could be retroactive. I didn't see anything in the article when I searched for "retro", but perhaps I missed it.

The problem is that the judiciary is ran by flawed individuals at several levels that are willing to ignore the concept of individual liberties, and there are higher courts that are more than willing to neglect their duty to reign the nonsense in...the history books are riddled with such nonsense.
I am not saying retroactive application is a done deal, I just would't count it out.
