I think it’s just BULL💩, the price is insane!!! Must admit I have a number of McC tin tobacco’s, was never a big fan......SORRY.....that ketchup/vinegar smell and burning aroma never did much for me. My favorite is their 40th Anniversary and the Frog series. Once a tin is opened I let it breathe for a number of days before smoking.
I know, there are many pipe smokers that love that ketchup/vinegar aroma, but I’m not one of them.

I have quite a bit of McClelland blends on hand, but I never thought they would amount to a down-payment on a new truck.

I'm glad I picked up the pipe after McClellend came to an end. If not, I'd have 5100 stashed everywhere in my room. I'm not going to hunt down more once my tiny amount is gone.... especially at the current prices.
I could do a lot more with 5k

I know, there are many pipe smokers that love that ketchup/vinegar aroma, but I’m not one of them. Actually, the price is not all that insane, not that I'm chasing McClelland, because I'm not. There are 85 50g equivalent tins. @$4275/85, that is slightly over $50.29/tin, which is not out of range of what many tins are selling for on ebay. And, whoever bought the lot paid less than the $4275 as the listing says "Best Offer Accepted". And then there is the free shipping, which on a lot this size would amount to more than a few dollars. Plus if you bought the cans on one off sales, the shipping would be around $5.00/tin, so around $425 in shipping. So I guess if you were looking to build a McClelland stash in one fell swoop, this would be a good deal. Having said that, would I buy such a lot? Most likely not. And if I did, it would need to be shipped to a double secret location.

Sold. Just like that, it's gone. Edit: re-listed. If this is the listing you are referencing, it is a new listing - different tobaccos and "only" 73 50g tins + the 4 100g tins. This was quite the stash! The seller has been selling single tins - like 5 pages of them - for the last couple of months, looks like all McClelland except a few tins of 2008 Escudo (at over $40/per). A new car for Christmas?

And you guys threw rocks at me last month when I mentioned greedy McClelland bass tards the crap in the can with malt vinegar. This listing is pure unadulterated GREED may he inherit the fleas of a thousand camels.

^ If someone offered me 4,000 to 5,000 for such a stash I would sell it. I have seen each of these tins on eBay start at .99 and reach the per tin price of this large lot. If not for buyers who push the cost of sealed tins to what appears to be "Greedy" prices, this auction and others like them would not work. Have you seen what vintage Balkan Sobranie or still in production Penzance & Stonehaven sells for? Don't blame the seller for a buyer's deep pockets, devotion and/or stupidity😁. Yes there are also folks who set high prices hoping for a sucker though this is not the case with all.
PS McClelland products are selling for crazy money. So I cannot blame others who are asking prices within the commonly sold for price margins. Though I will give to others in need and gift tobacco to friends,I am not a tobacco charity and do not expect others to be one either😁.
Let's keep in mind these are luxury items not necessary for survival. The price asked has also been met by the pure demand of some eBay buyers (As seen in KXG post and how high the .99 cent starting bid auctions have gone.) not simply arbitrarily set price that one must pay or leave empty handed. In other words there are a number of ways to look at this auction and others.

I doubt the guy that bought it is living on skid row... maybe he is worth 50 million dollars, 5K might be less than a one month country club fee. And the seller might have had to give up smoking for health reasons, and the health reasons put him in the poor house. Yeah, that is an exercise in a hypothetical, but not knowing the situation, I am not calling the seller greedy, or the buyer a dummy. Free market at work.... no way I would buy it... but then again I don’t have 50 mil.

Yeah its more like tripling the price of bottle water before a hurricane or buying up all the generators and selling them at three times the price after the storm. Or like quadrupling the price of a epi-pin.

Their only $55.00 ea. or thereabouts! That's a "deal" compared to some of the prices I've seen for some Dunhill blends recently! Besides, they are for sale on the web and thus must be in line with todays "virtual reality" I've got some smoke from Mt. St. Helen's I've been saving and will sell it, any takers ?

Plus, it is a luxury item, not like profiteering from bottled water which is a necessity. I typically never buy vintage tobacco’s because the point of diminishing returns...isn’t worth it to me. I made an exception for a 23 year old tin of Christmas cheer though at my B&M.
