I had halogen spot lights that I put in my kitchen. After a few minutes the heat was beginning to melt the wires in the housing... Not good. Switching to LED and there's never been an issue since. The insulation for recessed ceiling fixtures is supposed to be rated for at least 450 F. Did a Catholic wire your home about 30 years ago? 😨😉🤠😂😂 it wasn't a recessed fixture. But I also installed it myself so that might be part of the problem. 😨

I’m 95% converted, our state had a great rebate for switching and not all led lights are created equal, there are many made in China and they are horrible, our Ace Hardware Store has a setup of the different color ranges so you can see what you’re buying. My electric bill was in the near $100 range and dropped to slightly over $60 after the switch, I had to change 3 outlets and 1 dimmer that was old enough to not have the electronic circuitry to prevent the led’s from flickering. I am currently helping a friend retrofit the bulbs in his plane by finding replacements for his din OEM bulbs. He wanted to add a piece of gear to his plane but it would mean he’d have to upgrade his generator which would mean his plane would need to undergo a lengthy FAA approval for the change since the size generator was not a size offered for his plane. Changing his bulbs to led’s would lower his power needs to the point he could add his piece of gear and not have to change his generator and the FAA already gave him a thumbs up on led light bulbs so it’s a win-win. banjo

When we lived in Missouri, the electric company subsidized LED bulbs and they were very cheap, and every year I would buy the limit.
I've been 100% LED for a few years now, and while I've had to replace many of the heavily used ones, I am happy with the results.

Big fan of LED lights. I am astonished by how few Watts are drawn for so much light. A great improvement over the compact florescent bulbs. In cold weather here, those take a few minutes to warm up enough to get any light out of them and never last as long as advertised.
I can put my hand on a 100 Watt equivalent LED bulb and it is barely warm. Certainly cannot do that with incadescent. Thank you, Tom Edison, but your light bulb has been retired here.
