Some of us are mostly "shut-ins"... folks who, for one reason or another, have a hard time getting out into the world. Myself included.
I simply wanted to say "thank you" to you folks, who enrich my life and make me feel as though I have a reason to wake up every morning and have something to look forward to.
I appreciate every one of you.

Martin, you make my day every day...like you and apparently others, we are shutins by choice...not really interested in mingling with the humans out in the world. Have had my share of people in my life...now I prefer the wife and puppy and the folks here on the Patch. The members here are truly special...like family who don't fight with each other. The best that this world has to offer...right here on our Patch.

Sentiment is the same here, Martin.
In case you all haven't noticed, I am a real motor-mouth. haha I have always been a life of the party type guy and now that I am prevented from working and my social anxiety continues to grow with age, I have increasingly less social stimulation. I still see my friends semi-regularly, but they have families now, so our time together is understandably limited. Dropping in here for a quick word and reading a few posts really helps.
What is funny is when I am with a friend and have a thought about something they wouldn't really 'get' and I could only share here. haha Not something I expected; being new to forums. I really do appreciate having this place and all of you in it.

I'm not a shut in, but I know many in this world are, at Sunday school there is always a lady that mentions about shut-ins and to pray for that situation.. So prayers do go out for the shut-ins, first responders and military.. I know I don't get on this forum a lot but it is very enjoyable and I do appreciate it. I have kind of a busy life as most do. My mother is in her eighties she lives 12 miles away it seems like here lately she falls a lot so I tend with that quite often. My wife has episodes every now and then as a matter of fact just came home from the hospital today with her. My daughter has a newborn baby so I try to keep my other grandson two and a half years old when I can to give her a break. But as I said in the beginning I do enjoy this forumand do enjoy reading about different people's lives. Keep the embers burning..

I try to stay in as much as possible, but life obligations doesn't let me very often. I much prefer to stay home and socialize with you all. Each of you has enriched my life and for that I am very thankful! This is a very special place with very precious people.

I'm happy to have come across this forum, thanks to JimInks, and be accepted into this group. We were drawn here due to our love for pipes and tobaccos, but after a time, it becomes more than that; it fosters a bond.

I appreciate every one of you. Martin like you I’m one of those that spends 95% of my time in my home. I really appreciate reading what you post as well as the posts from the rest of the members. Some members stand out as always bringing something special to the table and you are at the top of the list. I can’t imagine this forum without you and others like you that contribute so much. My health issues often prevent me from interacting and responding but there’s seldom a day that I don’t read what everyone has posted. This forum affords me opportunities to meet so many quality people and make new friends. Being someone who cannot tolerate being alone I rely on the Patch to fulfill my need to socialize. Fortunately it seems most of my health issues are improving and hopefully I will soon be blessed with the ability to post more often, make new friends, and maybe contribute something worthwhile to the membership. People demonstrating they care for others is the primary asset of this forum. Now if Jim would send me the two tins of Rotary he owes me... AJ

I truly believe we, as humans, are wired for relationship and those we build here are as solid as any. While I know we all don’t agree on all things, what we do find in common makes a difference in our daily lives. I’m glad I found my way here.

Although I am home everyday, I don’t spend much time in the shack... between my job and commuting, I am on the road a lot.
The ability to pop in and out on the forum and skim through the threads a lot of times doesn’t allow much time to post quality stuff, it is good to read everyone’s contributions that I can get to though.
An old lady down the street named Marge, the wife and I tend to... she is a shut in, her husband is wasting away at a an assisted living facility so we run her back and forth, and help her shop.... mostly the wife though.
I am glad to hear that the banter and jawing lifts spirits for my brothers and sister here.

I'm glad that this place provides an 'outside world' for those who don't or can't go outside much. I've often thought of forums as a place where we have 'virtual' friends. However, I've come to realise that, in this case, I would never call any of you a virtual friend - you are true and very real friends to me. So to echo Dramatwist's sentiment - Thank you (all of you) who contribute here, who help make this place what it is. Thanks to your generosity of spirit, and for those times when people have asked for prayers or good thoughts, so many of you have provided your well-wishes, prayers and even private messages. The thoughtfulness and camaraderie in this place is second to none. And you make my life as a moderator extremely easy! Long live the Briar Patch.

can't contribute much more than to thank Sparks for all the IT work he did setting up this fine place & the chat. With caring for wifie often, have to be her "keeper" recently but still find time to read most of the threads IF I feel I can contribute something worthwhile. Most amazing thing....the # of folks who've allowed me to live this long.
